Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Education Changes Lives

I have been at University of Phoenix for ten years now. And I still believe in the good of the company I work for. I have watched as the FTC kept dragging us down. They are and will be on a witch hunt. It is so profoundly sad and wrong. UOP is a fantastic company to work for. We DO believe in their people. We DO believe in the students' lives they impact. We change people's lives. We give them a chance. Something to believe in. UOP is not and will never be a deceitful institution. And to all of those nay-sayers – I say you don't live within our walls at all. If you did, you would feel it, you would know what I am talking about.

Each of us here at University of Phoenix believes in our students . And we do still come in every day hoping to help them better their lives. We do it for the student!

How do you respond to the original post?? At lunch I went outside , looked around. Yes I am at UoPx. I walked back in and around and I cannot find what the original poster is commenting on. Living , breathing walls? Most of my friends have quit or been layed off. Feel?? I feel I am holding onto my job and hope the next round of layoffs misses me. "We DO believe in their people." Believe we are an unfortunate expense that needs to be reduced. "UOP is not and will never be a deceitful institution. "

Just check the long list of settlements where UoP wrote a check to silence others. Just check the interactions between the University and active duty military personnel and veterans. Just check the number of times department were told no more layoffs and within a month the departments were no more. We do come in everyday for the paycheck. Nothing more, Nothing less. Original Poster, when you get layed off you will see the reality of UoPx. Please seek counseling at that time, I feel sorry for you.

3nbn: Pres. is not being transparent about the fact that he was a minion of Private Equity landlords sent to liquidate and administer a firesale by doing a leveraged buyout.

Finally a non-hater post. Y’all can b--ch as much as you want and be all negative, but most folks working here really do feel that way.

No one likes all the laying off. But as long as UoPX isn’t growing, it has to happen. And Pres Cohen has been very transparent about that. No University can survive losing money (unless, of course, it’s public and the taxpayer supports it ...)

Buy systems that are based on reducing your workforce. Introduce them even though that don't work. Expect things to improve as you reduce too performers. End programs that improve student retention and outcomes. Slowly cut away core employees. Reduce pay and benifits. Start to outsource needs till they can be ended. Treat your students, staff, and employees like trash.....this is now the UOP way? What happened to education changing lives?

4th worst organization to work for in the USA and working diligently to become number 3. I bet UOP will achieve that unworthy goal. Those who defend it profit from their incompetency and incontinence.............yes, I said incontinence. They all wear diapers at the top and they need to because every decision they make reeks of __ and _, and needs to be changed.

And we care so much about changing lives that we call potential students multiple times a day on each phone number they provide us. We know how much that calling their work phone numbers is going to tell their bosses how much we care about changing lives. They will be happy we call their employees at work because they want their employees to attend such a reputable school. We care so much about changing lives that we overcome every objection they give us on why they don't want to or can't attend. We even overcome the objection of being homeless because we know that a degree from University of Phoenix can get them a job after 4 years. We will tell them that as long as they have access to a computer, such as at the library, they can attend. We will even enroll people who are incarcerated if they have access to a computer. Employers won't care when they get out of jail for an armed robbery at Walgreens where they stole oxycodone because they will be so impressed that they earned a degree while in school. In fact, Walgreens may even hire the ex-convicts as pharmacy technicians. Our graduates have gone onto very prestigious roles such as cashier and fast food worker. We are proud to say that they are the most educated people in their roles, roles in which some people don't even have a high school education. We are so devoted to changing students' lives that we spend more money on recruiting potential students than on the resources of they need while in class. That's how much we care about getting our message of changing lives across. We want to change everyone's lives and will spend as much of the tax payers' money to do so. We hope we can change yours too.

Wow how long did it take HR to approve that message. UOP as a workplace is horrible and our product is not good. I can’t even think of one department that is good. So please let us know where you work?
