Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Worried?

I think someone is worried. It might be posts like the one below that could be a problem? I personally think that every employee is better off being informed of the tactics of some unscrupulous managers. Every employee should read this description. I am sure there are some good managers at Oracle, but there are some guys with real problems, too.

Always think for yourselves and be aware that not everything you see is the way it seems at first.

I worked for a sociopath like this:

The Sociopath. Intelligent, well-spoken, charming and charismatic, sociopaths are the most destructive bullies of all. Reason: They have absolutely no empathy for others, yet they are experts at manipulating the emotions of others in order to get what they want.

These bullies often rise to positions of power within the company, which makes them extremely dangerous. Sociopaths tend to surround themselves with a circle of lackeys who are willing to do their dirty work in exchange for moving up the ranks with them.

This guy had a bunch of thugs, dumb--shovels, working for him. They would bring in other people to write an application for them, then sabotage and attack the person until they left, leaving them with something they could say they had written.

The guy at the top was a real slimebag, but you didn't know that when you first met him. Looked and spoke like a real manager, but wasn't. He had no idea how to manage anything, but he was great at underhanded schemes and manipulating his thugs. He looked like the nicest guy on earth until you got to know him. I suspect he's got the VP above him completely fooled.

You would think that some of the thugs would get wise to the guy after a while, but they aren't picked by the sociopath for their intelligence. They are just dumb thugs who he can easily manipulate.

One thing he did was to have fake "get-togethers". He'd invite someone from outside to see how great he treated his team. New people would think they were in a great place and work hard. They played word-games, but I believe the answers are given before the get-together, to whichever thug he wanted to make look smart. It seemed really fake to me.

Fake, fake, fake. This sociopath says he is always looking for new talent in his own talent profile. That's because he is looking for s---ers to write code for his thugs.

Sick, sick man and a sick, sick bunch of incompetent weirdos working for him.

Watch out for guys like this.

Some folks call then (In)Human resources

It's like Orwell's 1984 -they have managed to morph into a group that enforces company policies and supports management.

No empathy with regular employees at all. It's even hard to talk to a real person , these days. You have to take a ticket and stand in line just like the deli.

@wye - you’re funny, really funny! This is oracle HR we’re talking about here, they tolerate any kind of behavior; they are not there to help or protect employees! Please get that into your head once and for all. Oracle HR is there only to protect management!!!!!

Boy, don't get me started. I too worked for one of these. The only thing he cared about was his boss and his boss's boss and looking good. No waves. Couldn't care less about the folks below him. Good manager ? NO though I am sure he is deluded into thinking he is a great guy who loves his children and the planet. Zero empathy.

To the sociopath:

You have no reason to be worried, there are probably a lot of managers using this MO.

If you've got some poor smart guy on your hook and you are trying to reel him into your lair, this post isn't going to stop that. After all, you are really, really smooth. I'm sure you can dazzle him with your charm, have all your thugs do the same and you'll just s---er him right in.

No problem really. You would do yourself a favor not to post here. Just leave it alone.

Thanks,

Decent Human Being

You know, every time someone types in FAKE NEWS. I should just paste this story in after it.

Would be interesting to see if the Fake News comments stop.

Honestly, I don't think HR should even have a problem with this post. If there is someone like this at Oracle, I would think they would want that person to stop what they are doing or, better yet, leave Oracle.

Surely HR doesn't condone this type of behavior, do they?
