Oracle is more than just a technology provider—it is a trusted advisor that can help businesses transition their IT stack to the cloud and take the greatest possible advantage of that move.
Customers’ biggest requirement is the need for choice, said Oracle Vice President of Cloud Platform Ashish Mohindroo during an Oracle OpenWorld 2016 session on digital disruption. “People want to be able to work in a hybrid environment and move at their own pace. You need a cloud platform so you can create your own journey. And you need a path. Every customer follows their own personalized path to the cloud.”
Many companies start with a software-as-a-service (SaaS) application, then integrate SaaS and on-premises applications, and then extend applications with social and mobile capabilities. Other customers start with platform as a service (PaaS) for database, Java, or business intelligence. Some businesses start with infrastructure as a service (IaaS) for DevTest, and others begin with system consolidation, or by hosting their own cloud behind their firewall. “Whichever path works best for your business, you need a partner that will go with you on your own path to the cloud,” said Mohindroo, not one that forces you to follow a predetermined path or provides you with only one part of a cloud solution.
Oracle is the only vendor that provides a complete, integrated stack for the cloud , Mohindroo said. With other vendors, customers have to stitch things together. “Is that the business you want to be in?” Mohindroo asked. “Or would you prefer it to be the vendor’s responsibility to provide an integrated stack? We have done the hard work of stitching together every layer of the stack. This is Oracle’s biggest differentiator. We’re greater than the sum of our parts.”
