Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Regional must go

I have been with WFM for over 12 yrs and I saw it's demise when Walter Robb was CEO and Mackey became silent. Unfortunately no one stepped in to stop what he was doing and here we are. So many missed opportunities to get ahead of the competition. Now Amazon owns us and we will move in a different direction. I have no problem with that, what ever it takes to keep us going but these crazy ideas regional comes up with to save their jobs really needs to stop. Amazon needs to step in there first and put their people in. Get rid of sisters, cousins and friends and put competent people in those jobs. OTS is not a bad thing but like everything else WFM does, they take it over the top. Why do jobs have to be threatened over this? We in the trenches are left to explain to the guest why they discontinued a great product for no good reason when it may simply have been a vender made someone mad. Regional must go.

Excellent point by @S58qfIt-3cgz.

Hey folks, I think Bezos does intend to clean house, but be careful what you ask for. He has shown himself to have little regard for human beings and will replace all of you with robots as soon as he gets the chance. Bezos is NOT your savior, not even close. Be thankful you still have a paycheck for now, and start making your backup plans to take care of yourselves and your families.

JM never got "quiet". Just doubled down with his insane ideas, rants, and attacks back at the press etc. Now this is the mess we have to live with.

Florida is a corrupt region like no other. Certain coordinators handled the combo team fiasco with vengeance and venom. Simple ego will be the thing that takes them down and has led to their downfall so far. The swamp needs to be drained.

You should read the site rules. They don't allow slander nor personal insults. Also, it's not just names, they don't allow any personally identifiable data (that means if you skip a name, but add too many specifics, that post will be removed too)

Since apparently can’t use names even though both peoples names are in original post. W is J buddy he paid him out 10 million plus stock options as well as I lifetime discount. Even though W put us in the position of having to sell to Amazon. He should have been kicked to the curb and been given nothing. So the morale of the story is screw things up and be rewarded.

These people in a regional office who haven't worked in a store for a decade are telling my team who does their job very well with positive comps that everything must change. Good people are quitting because of regional incompetence.

Finally people are starting to tell the real story of WFM. Money squandered for YEARS. Regional leaders; young know nothing's with no experience and no common sense, making decisions that only lost money. Silencing Tms that had experience and tried to be helpful with suggestions. Those people get forced out because God forbid they should make store leadership look bad. I thank the people who made the comments here. Jeff Bezos needs to clean house in Whole Foods from the Corporate level down as far as he can. Most STLs need to go too.

You describe our northeast leadership to a T. There all there because of who they know. None of them have positions that they earned or deserve. Friendship is more valuable than being good at your job. Ask anyone in the region.
