what about buying a new keyboard with working punctuation.
Or even better go back to school.
I felt my job was fake. Honestly, I think a lot of people want that. They just want a title, money and a name of a company that is recognized by a lot of people. Or they are just coasting to retirement.
The marketing people I was working with were total idiots. There must be some decent marketing people in other areas, but the guys I was working with didn't want to learn or know anything. They wanted the software so simple that they could just press a button and talk the talk about magic under the covers doing everything.
I was writing fake software, just for marketing demos. None of these guys cared about whether the software could actually do something for the customers. It's just smoke and mirrors. Good developers don't want to do that, but people who want a fake job, will do that.
Then, there is all the blame being passed around and it all ends up on top of the developers. Write what they want, you are screwed because you didn't anticipate something else. Write what needs to be written, you are screwed because someone else someone has to do something to understand it.
If you want a FAKE job, Oracle is your place. Go for it!
Wow, talk about a run-on sentence. @SaPk49E-1kct
I am happy at Oracle despite the negativity here on this board by malcontents who are not too happy with the cards they have been dealt at Oracle because they do not like the company they spread that bad karma here and throughout the wider world to make Oracle look has when in reality it is not as bad as they say or think but only bad for them because they make it bad as life is what you make of it and if you are a negative person you will communicate negativity to the cosmos and to those who read this board for advice on what to do about Oracle.
No
This post is such a joke
I left Oracle recently for a new opportunity. I was with the company for a few years. What I found is that there are some solid engineering teams. Though there isn't a lot of innovation. Some of the things coming out of Oracle Labs are cutting edge but the core business seems to be maintaining legacy systems and putting together solutions to keeping customers off competitors offerings.
They say you don't leave a job, you leave a boss. That was true in my case. In my time at Oracle I reported to two different people who were at Director level. They had both come into their positions through happenstance and were totally unsuitable for the role. Didn't listen to my concerns or what I wanted to do with my career. They were both manipulative and passive aggressive.
Of course you only hear the bad stuff on this site. But there is a lot of truth in all of it.
At the end of the day, Oracle is a place where talent goes to die. I met lots of folks whose main goal appeared to be riding it out to retirement.
Not a people company. I couldn't believe what I heard management say on conference calls when they were looking for someone to blame. Money seemed okay, but no raises or promotions. Worst experience I had was to get a walk on water review with no compensation ... As long as you don't get any older than 50, it's a job.
There is some good and some parts not good
it depends
Asking such question on a website taking about layoffs is, hmm, how could I say that in a polite way ?
Good luck in your life OP, it will not be easy for you, LOL !!!
