Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Are we headed for a break-up?

The overwhelming impression I've been getting lately is that we are closer than ever to being broken up. It seems to me that every move is geared specifically to that purpose, even if it's not being disclosed as such.

Anybody else feels this is what's been happening lately?

Global Ops was supposed to be the team that would save GE from its horribly inefficient self. We would have all the businesses adopt a singular process; not multiple processes that are broken and specific to each business. Almost two years later, I left because I was tired of bashing my head against the wall trying to convince the business folks why they needed to change.

Global Ops will continue to use low cost labor but the resources will align more towards the businesses and Global Ops even could be sold off as its own sale just like Genpact several years ago.

Yes, it seems this is The most likely scenario.

If the rumors are true, has anyone heard what will become of Global Ops and the shared service model?

I had read in the New Yorker 15 years ago that GE would become a holding company. Guess it's going to come true.....s---s for us.

We are on the path there. Appears all HQ/ GGO will over the next year or so get aligned to the businesses and HQ will shrink. I am getting the feeling they are getting ready to implement the BHGE strategy GE wide and HQ will just become a holding company of stock as well as bad debt.
