SM mentioned that they are looking at either shutting down server business or having strategic partnership with partners. Does strategic partnership mean selling it?
It looks to me they are just going to shut down.

I am surprised that OP has not even a common sense to discuss this publicly.
They’re closing shop and all those folks will have to leave Raleigh, take paycuts, and pay way more for a house. NBD
it's the original Snapdragon team, if they weren't around 10 years ago a lot of SD wouldn't have a job now, they'll be fine no matter what happens, prob better off apart from the sinking ship
why would they close it up when they can make a little $$$ toward their $1 billion, ez money
silly people, talking about which groups are laying off is company sensitive information, too. You don't get to pick and choose what is sensitive.
Everyone knows about the folks and mid May.
OP is a jerk. Posting sensitive information publicly.
Maybe Paul can take it, he wants a piece of cake anyway
Topic should be deleted. Understand people are not happy at Qcom, but we shouldn't discuss sensitive information.
Is that a company confidential news being discussed here? I could not find anything related on the web.
Honestly speaking.. Qualcomm does not bring anything new to already mature server business other than small incremental improvements.
Strategic partnership might mean that it will be spun off into an independent company with investment from partners, probably one of the customers.
But AMD & IBM are far ahead in the game with most of the hyper-scalers, so why would they invest in this instead of doubling down on AMD & IBM as alternatives to Intel.
I was disappointed by the news
Could be a spinoff with outside investment. Server already has one product with major costumers and pretty far down the road with follow-on part.
