Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Reliable resource talks about high shrink review, manager evaluations and Mapms home office visit

Home office is pressured to get a handle on shrink, with the competition having virtually no theft the company is looking to re-evaluate management teams. with the spike in shrink long term managers in position 2+ years will be removed from position. this comes after a high increase across company in shrink. Mapms plan to travel to Bentonville with intentions to discuss the outcome for management teams in high shrink clubs. It is said that managers are being assessed based on last years to this years improvement's, the group will be discussing time in position, prior inventory and broken processes from past years high shrink review. this all comes shortly after a mass layoff in early February. I spoke with a former Sam's club manager and this is what he had to say. ( home office just don't get it. they introduce all these off the wall ideas that just seem to hurt the company. when they took away our inventory teams they made a huge mistake and now they have no one to blame so their going to point the finger at the managers. as a former manager I used to hate all the changes implemented but after a while you just become numb to it all. I just hope the managers are smart enough to make the right move before its too late.)

Market Mangers here are just inept. All they can do is assign blame! When was the last time any of them ever offered a solution? They are products of an organization who discourages any type of Personal Initiative, or Creative Thinking. Between the PC Police and Diversity , it is not a Company promoting or encouraging ability. How can you blame them? Is it really their fault, or the end result of a failed business strategy? It is a political cesspool ! So who cares, the Company is finished. Everyone knows apparently except the Nit Wits in Bentonville. Just a matter of time!

Only going to continue getting worse. Now they will blame it on the team leads saying they gave them the tools to help shrink. Unfortunately they didn’t give them the time or staffing to do it.

Still with the club after 26 years.. Worked my way up only to be knocked down to level 3. Yes could've taken the easy way out with severance but decided to stick around just to see how far this will go (after all who else will hire a 60 year old) Sam's has graciously reduced my hours so that i could improve my skills to prep for the outside.. Terribly upsetting to see a company treat their a associates in a disgraceful manner.. If Sam's club is being faded out,, home office needs to just pull the plug and stop making the club look foolish by possibly putting excessive loss of merchandise as the blame for Sam's ultimate demise. Managers are putting A lot of pressure on their team i believe because they are watching the ship go down fast and they are just as fearful as we are.. No job security as promised.. Sam's associates are hard workers however Sam's is doing a great job on killing any spark or loyalty we once had.. You younger people have good experiences acquired from working at Sam's and can now utilize these skills at a more positive atmosphere.. Good luck to all.

LMAO, getting what you deserve. Wait, aren't we losing more money than what our Audit Team payroll would have been? So, what happened to "it doesn't matter if we key it now or on inventory day". Boy were you wrong... It does matter doesn't it? That's why we can't find anything that isn't here. Yep we tell our members after 30 minutes or so, "sorry, we don't have it, it must have been stolen". However, try cosco they have it in stock.

This is just a continuation of the layoffs. Home office played their cards right they only had to offer 30% of the managers severance the rest that will be filtered out soon will be terminated on job performance. There was an email that went out in early January that has all the details about how the managers they choose will be fit for the roles. This is just the second phase of manager terminations. I'm not stupid I'm looking for another carrer.

Yes home office always looking to blame everyone else. They virtually let all the talent people who actually gave a sh-- go....all this bull sh-- members always right, giving refunds on 3 year old products, scan n go, don’t detain the members, the words out Sams club is the easiest place to steal from. This also ask for a manger get a 25 to 50 dollar gc cause I don’t like how your employee talked to me blah blah blah, we’re going to go down as the highest shrink company in history. Set back and watch the show how many new managers will come and go now.......

The completion has no theft because everyone knows it's too easy to get all the free stuff at Sam's Club.

If they want to find the problem they need to look at all the dumb things they did to cause it. No audit team, Scan & Go, not checking receipts at the door. They asked for it. Don't check everything coming in just ASN and keep going. The question is how did they not see what was going to happen????
