NXP not happenning due to externalities (Trump, MOFCOM, lack of tendered shares, etc.), question is does QCOM "Brain Trust" or really "Brain-deficit" have an alternative. Answer is NO, they don't. They went all-in on this deal and now it will be interesting to see it devolve into nothing. It will eventually all be worth it if we fire Mollenkopf and his menagerie. In just a few years since he took over he has almost single-handedly destroyed the Q. Good riddance I say... Time to get back to innovating and engineering basics. It would be good if the "brain trust" stopped reorging every 3 weeks, but then they would actually have to work... Unthinkable!
They had promised 1B$ cost saving. ZTE lost thus 500M$ lost. Due to trade war more customer loss is possible. Probably they should pay 2B$ to N. All in all about 4B$ is open in 2018 in the book. They must do something otherwise shares will fall which stakeholders won't like. Fastest way is layoff. Another alternative is divesting some parts of the company.

Q wants the NXP deal to save face. Payout will be 2B to China masked as “investments”. Time for more of those bribery videos.

China will hold it forever and the company needs to pay nxp 2B in July. We will have another round of layoff soon.
