“Simply put, AT cellphone bills keep going down, which is great for us, but not great for Randall. They think, by buying Time Warner, they’ll be able to create new kinds of online video and also sell what’s known as targeted advertising. They’ll marry AT&T’s data with Time Warner’s content and sell ads at a higher rate.”, absurd proposition for someone that does not understand content

I feel At&t could have embellished parts of their legacy fixed wireline assets that were fully paid for, by adding new calling features and capabilities (...jazzed it up a little bit and made it cool again through a good marketing team and catchy TV ads) and retained a lot of customers who were basically happy with their existing service yet still on the bubble who needed reassurance that dependable telephone service is still important, ie. older customers, not gaga over the internet, smartphones, etc. who may have been more interested in connecting a monitored security system to a dependable telephone system even if the power goes out is one perfect example.

But, I feel our Management moved as quickly as possible to get rid of the marginal customer, so the equipment required to provide that service could be turned down. They just wanted to get out of it (Pots Service). Not that it was not profitable, they just weren't happy that it was not even more profitable. Greed. Sometimes, a steady $50 per month in a less competitive area (as a platform to add additional features on top of) is not a bad thing to have versus maybe $150 per month in a highly competitive area that costs a fortune just to play in, regardless of whether you make any actual money or not.

After this most recent earnings release, it seems to indicate that many bridges have now been burnt and that completing this merger is more important than ever. If for whatever reason, it doesn't get approved, look for things to really get nasty. We are now beyond the point of no return. We can't go back.

Anytime a company moves from one major Line of Business into a new one, miscalculations and mistakes are made. IMO, our company now realizes they are no different. Moving from a LOB with lots of past experience to a new one with little experience is hard to do. Our Management now knows that.

My 2 cents worth.

biggest snake oil salesman ever, worse than an infomercial. not just with the products but with all the employees concerning 2020 training and all that bs. i wonder what the final tally will be for his dismissal on the shareholder's meeting this year.

AT&T is actually starting to sell used cars, Randy finally has something to do within his skill set that does not involve outsourcing or gutting customer service.

I’m quite sure his professional life is on the line. He barely survived the last failed merger with T-Mobile, not gonna get a second pass.

Will Randy be surplused?

...leaving to spend more time with the family?

...or pursuing new opportunities?

Not only TMO lost deal, but the Nillions spent on a dead business such as DTV.

How about 15 dollar bundle plan? This guy is all about distractions, smoke and mirrors, taken from the 101used car sales tactics manual

I hope this does not go through. It will force AT&T to invest and enhance in their aging broadband network and bring our coverage up to par with Verizon. It’s infurating competing against Verizon...it’s infuriating watching AT&T spend billions on acquiring new businesses than fixing the business they already have. This is exactly why they had to sell wireless years ago to Cingular...management heavy and debt overload.

How does this guy Stephenson even have a job after the billions he blew on the T-Mobile disaster! He only wants this TW acquisition so he can dump thousands of employees and raise prices to goose his bonus.
