I would like to say that I am a invoice clerk and have been for years. There are some of us on here that thinks this position is above every other position .. Let me tell you It is not. We are all equal. Those of you who thinks it takes a genius to do this job is crazy.It does not matter if you are a cart runner, door greeter,maintenance,cashier clerk or club manager ,we are no better then the next person..please do not categorize me with those clerks who put their selves on a pedistool and think it would be a disgrace to push a cart,clean a toilet or cover a door greeters break..Im sure more of us clerks were hired right into this position and had to start somewhere..So here is to every associate who ain't afraid to get their hands dirty..

We all know where there is smoke there is fire.
Regardless,just do the best you can and DO NOT let this get you down.We all have pride and although I do not agree with how H.O.is handling this there is not a darn thing we can do..No matter what the out come may be,I will continue to hold my head high. Most of us were raised with great work ethics and will not allow this to change that...
To 4ngh.. No that is not fair at all. If the management in your club care about you they will do their best to take care of you. Please , just do not allow this to change who you are. Believe me if management has seen you do your very best at what's best for the club they will work with you. But if they see that you are only thinking of yourself and being ungrateful then it's just a matter of time before the other shoe drops.
In my 25 years with this company I can honestly say I did what ever I had to do to be grateful.
Just hang in there. We will all be o.k.
don’t take what I say here to the bank. Focus on doing the best you can do and don’t worry about your position. Yes, clerk role will eventually go away, and so will others. A good educated guess would be clerks have at least another half year in their position, possibly longer.
I agree,,,,, somewhat. I just don't think it's fair that we have done a level 7 job or whatever it's called now and they are just using us wherever they need us. I'm not saying I'm above cleaning toilets. I clean the truckers restroom all the time. I'm just saying that I don't think it's fair that we are just demoted for no reason. I'm sure most of us have did a very good job for 20-25 years. People are getting so fired about saying we think we're better. Maybe some are saying it. But think if you were a COS and was put at the door for no reason. If it wasn't a better job then why do they put levels on them? Why are some paid more than others? They need to think outside the clerk box. What if they were put at the door after 25 years of being a good associate and someone else that has been working there 6 months was giving a COS position? And of we are all equal then why was the cash office lead and UPC clerks giving the option of a buyout? I don't care what anyone says. We, are being treated very unfairly.

I wasn't talking about equality in the eyes of this company. I'm talking about we are equal in my eyes as far as being a knowledgable human being..We have a lot of knowledgable associates in our clubs and we have a lot who ain't worth the pay check they are getting. 25 years with this company and I have never put myself above any other associate. I believe it takes the entire group to make a club run well. Now, what the company , sociality and some of the other clerks on here think is a entirely different issue. Yes,I'm a receiving clerk but I truly believe your job is just as important as mine..Every club has those few associates who feel they are the glue that holds their club together but in reality they are not.. I just don't want to be out in the same category as them..

We are all equal in the human eye. It upsets me that some think that we are not.Yes we as clerks are knowledgable but as you said so is just about every other associate that works in every dept. It takes knowledge and talent to decorate the beautiful cakes, it takes knowledge and talent to set that layout just as H.O.wants. There is so much knowledge in areas that I know nothing about. I just wish every body would understand this.

To the opening poster, thank you for actually being one of the few clerks that seem to realize we are all in the same boat. Clerks have certain knowledge of smart screens that only they need to use, but they are easily teachable to others. What is not easy to teach is how to be comfortable and do well selling plus, credit, and now Scan and Go. It is not easy to learn how to transition seasonal when the layout home office gives doesn’t fit your club. Meat cutters have specs, bakers have specs, decorators have a skill as well.
Basically, the clubs that run well are the ones that know each person is there to do their best in their specific role and that your role isn’t any more important than the other. They all must do their job if a club is going to do well.
To the person who used the choice of words, “schooled by the clerk.” I can’t fathom how I would need the advice from a clerk that often, to even have a chance at being schooled. The fact the you even use the word ‘schooled’ instead of teaching or showing, makes you look as much of a snob as some of the clerks.
Smart System is going away it is slowly being fazed out. As far as everyone being equal that is what the company wants everyone to believe but that is no where close to the truth. Giving everyone no matter what they do a 2% raise across the board is a slap in the face to you good employees. Ive never seen a company try to discourage good workers to lower there standards to meet the p i s s p o o r workers but congratulations Sam's is pulling it off, I guess they needed some way to pay the extra money fresh associates are going to get. If anything they company is telling everyone that fresh associates are far more important than any other position in the building.
I totally agree. I just don't get why everyone thinks we are so unapproachable. I well help anyone however I can. Anyway, it's not worth arguing about. They can think what they want. I don't know them so why would I care what they think? It's almost hilarious how mad they are.

More than likely someone who was passed up for a receiving job or new management who got schooled by a knowledgeable clerk.
I’ve went a few rounds with clerks in my 20 years and was almost always the one in the wrong. They aren’t always the most pleasant people in the world to deal with but they put up with more stupidity from so many different sources than just upset members on the floor.
To 1xh, I was actually hired into this position almost 30 years ago. Why would you think that no one was hired into this position. Just another stupid comment made by someone with no clue.
I know. These people have so much brown on their nose it's unbelievable. When are they going to learn it doesn't matter how much a $$ you kiss. NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOU. They're the ones that need to go. Wait a minute. No. They probably deserve to be here.

Clerks paid their dues working all kinds of jobs before most people replying were even born. If you just fell in to that role without common sense and a good work ethic your club manager made a bad choice.
Out of the 5 clubs I’ve spent time at or helping the Clerk is the most knowledgeable person in the building who I’ve learned countless things from.
They can run SMART system and HO screens in their sleep. They have claimed that they were replacing Smart for the past 20 years but it still proves time and time again to be a more reliable and stable system than anything on the wire or apps.
The jerks just keep trying to s--- the decent people in. Don’t let their ignorant comments bother you.
