Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Here until the end

Dear Sam's Club, I just wanted you to know that I am your loyal employee and I will do whatever you ask of me. I understand your doing away with my position. You don't have to tell me anything. I will work whenever and wherever you want me to. If my kids have to stay at home alone because you decide to work me a different shift, that's okay. Oh, and if you have to take part of my pay away, i totally understand. I make too much money anyway and I'm sure all the upper management are taking one as well. My kids, eat too much anyway. I'm not quite as young as I was when I started working here over 27 years ago so I apologize if I'm not quite as fast or can lift as much but I assure you, I will do whatever I'm asked even if I go home in pain everyday. You see i owe my life to this company and I promise to put you before my health, my family and whatever else. I have 0 respect for myself because i have givin it all to you.

Please disregard the clerks that think they are owed anything. I mean just because most of them have been dedicated employees for nearly 3 decades and you are doing away with their position, you don't owe them anything. Take part of their pay away. I'm sure they don't need it and upper management knows better what to do with it. And if they have to schedule them whatever shift you need them to, so be it. Sam's should come first above EVERYTHING. I know that cash office and Audit was lucky enough to be offered a choice. They think they should be too. Imagine that. They feel entitled to know what their future holds. Ridiculous. Anyway, you can count on me to be there until the day I die, or you lock me out, whichever comes first.

Yours truly,

Your dedicated servent

Some think they are owed an explanation and a lot more.Do they realize that in retail along with a lot of other jobs they are owed absolutely nothing. Do you think any of the displaced associates who worked in the club's that closed got any explanation. A NOTE ON THE DOOR WAS THE EXSTINT OF THEIR EXPLANATION. Get real people. Be happy your A$$ still has a job...Ungratefull a$$es....

You do not really believe you’re owed an explanation do you? You are a tool , an expense. That is how all Labor and people are viewed by business in general , this company in particular. It’s a very rough thing to face, because many of you have been coddled over the years. Get over yourselves!

Are you trained to do anything else, have you volunteered to learn new things, have you grown as an associate and kept your skills fresh. Only you know that but if you have not , regardless of where you stand in position , you will become obsolete ! Social Darwinism. They owe you Bothing more than a Paycheck. If you have been collecting it through 27 years of Recessions , Layoffs, you have done better than most. Accept it , or move on and stop believing You or those like you deserve anything more than the rest. Not happy then Quit. This is not a Morality Play, or Non Profit, it is a business.

There are Clubs, entire Teams that showed up for work and got locked out. Came in to a note on the door! They were every bit as dedicated as you think you are. Not saying you’re not, but accept it, or have the courage to move on! Truthfully just stop the crying Jag. You are not engendering or creating sympathy , you just just sound petty!

Get over it, or vote with your feet and leave. However just shut your trap no one cares or wants to read about your daily drama of a receiving Clerk. You’re Clerks you do whatever is needed. If you wanted more out of life you would have made something of s better career choice. Not being disrespectful but the choice was yours. No one cares.

I think we all want answers but we are not going to find them on here. No one knows anything yet and if they do they ain't saying anything...But we have to understand no matter how much we think we are owed something , even a simple answer , they will find a way to get around it..We will not know anything until the day it happens..I have asked my managers several times and they just beat around the bush or change the subject.

Let's just stop being mean to each other and putting each other down . Let's start supporting one another and let each other know if we have any valid info.

This is what we do in our market, when there is any info involving the clerks we let the others know. Because we k ow how communication is in these clubs.

Good luck to all..

I haven't been with the company 27 years and I can live without a great job pin. I think I still have dinner leftover from grammar school.

Yep. Pretty sure you're right about it being the home office people. If not then they deserve everything coming their way. Very hateful.

I think the reason people think clerks think they are better than anyone else is because you keep making comments like you aren’t going to clean toilets or Am I supposed to leave my kids home alone. What do you think the rest of us do?? I have worked there 25 years and paid for daycare like most associates do. And if you’ve worked there 27 years I’m guessing your kids aren’t in diapers anymore pal.

The Audit team and cash office were told 60 days before they were let go. I’m sure you will get 60 days to adjust to cleaning toilets at a lower pay rate. Enjoy!

Well said and the fact that people want us to stop "whining" and because we want answer's we think "we are better then other Associates" is ridiculous. We just want what everyone else got some kinda answer. If it's your position is gone or now your position is going to be whatever it is they are thinking. Just a definite answer so we can go on with life. Just respect for the individual.
