Senior Management (Senior Directors and above) have this communication as their full time job for these few days. They are very aware of the effect they will have on the team members if they schedule a meeting with them over the next couple of days. So, they will either avoid unscheduled 1:1 meetings or will tell you more about the agenda to ensure that you do not get the wrong idea.
Of course, this does not apply to regularly scheduled meetings or meeting with a larger number of people. At Qualcomm, we do not believe in mass layoffs!
