I was a SF policyholder ever since I started driving. A few years ago I started a new job at the Farm in a new department and let's just say it required me to work with some ethically challenged individuals. A few months later I received my first raise which was very low. I was immediately empowered to switch insurance carriers which resulted in a yearly savings of 1,200 which I've saved every year since and will continue to save no matter who I work for. Do what you can to make your life better.

I had one claim with SF after 25 years of none. The claim was $3K in total which they should not have paid (yes I am an adjuster). However, some inexperienced newbie paid it in error for which I was told they could not recover. They raised my rates after this one claim!!! I immediately pulled all my Illinois policies and encouraged my family members to do so also regardless that I am an employee. Happier with USAA and better rates.
I switched to SF before I went to work with them and have never had a claim, but I do shop around every few years. Last year, USAA was competitive on auto, but twice as high on fire, Liberty Mutual, higher, Amica higher. A lot depends on your zip code, etc., I have discovered that often you start out with a good rate and then rates jump up on every renewal. That's what happened to me with Farmers. So staying put for now. Do what is best for you.
USAA eligibility is you or your parents have served honorably. I switched to USAA and it is as awesome as everyone says it is. My brother switched all of his lines of insurance and saved $1850 annually.
USAA requirements are that you must be active or retired military or a family people of one. I do not live with my retired Air Force mother but she has USAA. I have my own policy through them because I qualified as her daughter. Much cheaper than SF and better business model. Check it out!!
SF employee for 18 years but no longer loyal. I moved my policies. I also moved my banking. No more! My job is at risk so why should I be loyal?
What are the requirements for USAA?
Yep. Switching my 8 policies to USAA.
I switched. We saved $1100 a year for the auto and home combined. Sad but true.
USAA if you qualify, Travelers if you don't.
I can't believe multi line discount will be discontinued since just about every company uses it. But the decisions the company is making these days maybe it could be true. However, I have not switched, but have several friends that saved $1000-$1800 a year when they moved their home and auto to competitors. Since they are no longer a good neighbor, I don't feel anyone needs to stay when they can save a good amount of money. One can use the savings to buy things like food or to cover the large deductible we are forced to carry on our medical insurance. Which by the way, is one more thing that tells you the company does not care about employees. Profit is everything. The Farm is dead.
When I first switched it was to the Gecko.
Where did you go for ins?
I'm going to start shopping around. I have not experienced a claim in 25 years. Dont want to stick around based on the horrible treatment of Claims workers/stories. Rumor has it multi-line discount on auto will be taken away soon? It that turns out to be true, other comany rates will be VERY competitive. People speak highly of Country Companies....
