Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Severance question

How long did it take for you all that were previously laid off to receive your first severance check? My official last day was 4/9.

The form we received says it’ll be after our last “normal” check on the regular pay cycle and once the letter we had to sign has been received by HR and processed.

they never received my severance papers and I contacted HR and I sent it in again, they still have not received it . Not very happy , it's a PO Box so you can't send it overnight .

I got my first severance payment today and it included the PTO payout. It ended up being less take-home pay than I thought. More taxes taken out with all that money on one check, I guess.

@5jlg — I received my original signed severance agreement back in the mail this week with the Humana HR rep’s signature. It’s all finished now. Looking forward to severance checks. Sigh of relief.

@7rgi — Thanks, I wish I had thought of that. I guess I can send an email and see if I can confirm that they received my severance agreement.

SE0fJl6-5jlg- sent mine in certified mail with return receipt. Cost me a few bucks but well worth the peace of mind.

My manager reached out last week. I got my labels shortly thereafter and dropped my equipment off at the ups store. Also, I did keep my original boxes from 5 years ago that way I would have them whenever I left the company.

Does anyone know if we get some kind of confirmation that our signed severance agreement was received. Call me paranoid but I don’t want to find out that no severance check is deposited a few weeks from now. I need that money until I start a new job in June.

No one I know got any email directions about equipment return, but my former coach called to find out. If you live near a Humana center just call and arrange a time to drop off your equipment. If you don’t live locally they can send you empty boxes with return labels and you can go to a UPS store and ship the equipment back.

No my computer is just sitting here. My former colleagues who I still speak with say the same.

Has anyone received word on what to do with our equipment?

My MET team reviews were always over 95. When we had other coaches doing our reviews my reviews were always over 95. Even a 100. My coach? 65 to 80. Was the quality of my calls that different only on the calls she listened to? Or was it because we butted heads?

Where do we send our equipment

I’m sure some coaches play favorites. I’m sure some coaches do their best to be fair and unbiased. I don’t doubt that both experiences have occurred.

It was good when they had other coaches and leaders jump in for reviews. More collaboration is a good thing. Skip meetings are a good thing.

Any time we can get feedback from various sources, the threat of a “playing favorites” game is dramatically reduced. I welcome feedback from leadership.

@SE0fJl6-3pik The purpose is to point out that we all think we are better. If it stirs the pot or causes an argument then so be it. I believe I was a good employee and better than many who remain but I don't know that for sure and since Humana won't give us any details about the PITA; it's a pretty good guess that @SE0fJl6-ydo doesn't have details of the PITA process either. All of the BS is meaningless. Humana was not saving enough money through the telephonic care management business.

What’s the purpose of your comment, below poster? No need for it unless you are just bored and looking to argue.

I was laid off a few months ago. Just a note your pto balance ...they will take out every week of your retirement contribution. I had full balance of pto. A 9000 pto was paid out to 4500. It is tax heavily. You might want to make adjustments to your with holding for federal and ss...

I just got paid on 4/13 for regular work time through 4/6. I’m expecting my next paycheck to include one final work day on 4/9, plus nearly three weeks of unused PTO. I think the severance checks start the next pay period after the PTO payout, according to what I read in the termination agreement.

Well the next check (next week) will be for a week and one day plus my PTO balanace.. so I was thinking severance will start 2 weeks after that?

I was angry too. I still have a lot of resentment for my coach who played favorites and gave me a bad assessment over her friends when I was a better employee than them. But I'm so much happier now, I got a position with another insurance company and it is so differant. My new boss is fair. the environment isn't toxic. My stress level is way down. I didn't realize just how much the negative environment of Humana was affecting me! I'm so glad I was laid off now.

AS to the original question, does anyone know if our next check will have 4 days of severance on it since our last official day was part of the way through the pay period, or will they start severance the next full check after that one?

We all feel anger toward Humana it makes no sense to get rid of loyal employees who went above and beyond what was expected of them. I started with the program Humana Cares. It was an excellent program we really helped a lot of people and we were proud to say we worked for Humana. However a few years into the program Humana stopped caring and renamed the program Humana At Home when they bought that New York bunch Called Senior Bridges. After that Humana went down down down and they have now lost sight of what that program Humana Cares was all about. You really can’t feel proud to be Part of that mess now

I guess once Walmart takes over they can rename the program Wally at Home.

If you got a paycheck on this past Friday, the next check will come in two weeks just like you were still working, however, they will no longer take out any Flexible Spending, 401K contributions and if you are no longer taking their insurance that will no longer come out. You will no longer be able to go on line and check this out, you are now blocked and so on the Friday or Saturday after you get paid on Friday, you will receive a statement in the mail telling your what was with held etc. You will just continue receiving the checks till your severance is up. Don't forget, if you are getting your car insurance through Humana, Humana will no longer withhold that either and you will need to call the insurance company regarding how to pay if you want to continue with that insurance. (I had car insurance).
