Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

No news is bad news

Looks like we have a minimum of $114M in severance packages to be paid out. Depending on who you talk to after reading the 10Q in March it could be up to $640M. All I can say is this is the slowest Q4 across the board I have ever seen. Nothing seems to be selling. The offices are empty and people are idle. My manager has stopped calling to see how things are going for months now.

Nothing is hot and as far as I can tell no one is busy. I guess the MH dialing for dollars strategy with college kids is living up to common sense expectations. As in this bad idea is about to come full circle with really low sales numbers.

All I see is no news. No "oh hey this is great, the customers are dying to get this." I just see empty hallways and meeting rooms. I see no activity. It does not feel like the typical Q4. Its sloooow.

Any one care to disagree? What is selling? Let me know so I can change roles.

Inquiring minds want to know what's being worked on.

What are you working on for the big show?

Some new big reveal?

The field is dead quiet. NOTHING going on.

The idleness is probably departmental. Everyone is being overworked to near exhaustion to prepare for the annual Vagas show.

I do not believe the "Class of" is only about saving costs. I think the company is effectively being downsized without this being very visible outside. Nobody would believe the traditional business is growing after many years of decline, while you are cutting lots of jobs and cloud business nobody use is growing. All this cannot happen at the same time, so some things that are, indeed, happening are better covered...

"Class of" or "there are no layoffs" is exactly the same story to me.

I posted earlier and agree with you--- consulting also has army of consultants on the bench and lying high-paid managers don't say a word except do online training!!!

at this point those who defend the company are either high paying incompetent A*** holes , basic administrative folks about to get kicked out..or job hoping developers who have no senses of company and waiting to move to another gig...

wait till Q4 results are out and we miss the numbers again... stocks in the 30s..and a loong crappy summer for all ..to start

MH keeps doubling down on a failed plan with the 'Class Of" program and will not hear anything about it to the point where the high turnover has been 'built' into the model. Don't fix the problem, just say that's part of the plan.

Quiet on the sales side everywhere. Re-orgs looming for OD and Field.

Saw an Oracle job posted on linked in. Supporting Solaris at the PTSE level.Checked with my peeps on the inside to see if the position was legit, not resume bait, worth looking into. Guess what? It is not. Oracle is still not hiring Solaris people in the US. The posting is there I guess to make it look like they do have an opening. Oracle lies like a rug. Probably better to get out of there.
