Big layoff in Apps UX today. At least 25% of cloud UX group affected.

JU and org is gone. So UX Oracle has rapidly become a byword for EX Oracle. He can thank Seattle for that.
Innovation Team is gone. i think they are moving them to prague.
there has been lots of talk about another big ux rif coming in the next two weeks as management did their secret offsite in san francisco. the reaper's list has been created. too many directors and managers with no direct reports. it's going to be a slaughter house starting with the oldest and highest paid.
Any news on what happened to the innovation team?
Toast.
Any news on what happened to the innovation team? They used to hold public events & hackathons promoting Oracle Cloud Technology around the world.
Yeah, this makes sense: @SD9JDHe-imym
There are always more UX people than a company actually needs. UX people like to sit around and BS about the future of "design". Companies don't need to pay for the BS.
UX should be mostly gone. People with big salaries who don't do much for the company.
Many of the folks in the Apps UX group who were RIFed weren’t actually doing any product UX work. It was folks doing a mix of research and marketing/partnr relations/education. Their departure isn’t going to lead to better products, but certainly to a lower travel budget.
UX is one area where I believe you need to have younger people. In other areas it pays to have experience, like in development.
Oracle probably needs to purge its UX people.
It’s coming and it’s going to hit middleware UX (bs cloud UX) hard. Most likely will consolidate UX orgs and use opportunity to lay off the aging designers who are making the group less attractive. They can’t hire young and cheap designers with a room full of old ones. Sure its horrible when you’re old but it’s a harsh reality of design culture. Look how many VPs and directors are in UX at Oracle and no question they are easily eliminated.
I think some worked on the original abacus and thats why its so usable
Wow the designers at Oracle are all like super old. Like OMG nobody at my design school would ever want to work with all those geriatrics. Search for Oracle Designers on Linkedin and they are all like in their 70s or something.
They replaced JU vp of cloud design with some inexperienced director from amazon devices. Watch for reorg and massive slash and burn. Many more ui designers to get the boot.
I've got no soul to sell
LE you have got to stop posting on this board.

The only thing that works for me
Help me get away from myself
Lots of reasons to reduce UX. It is a luxury, not a necessity.
Oracle is anti-design bc they make lots of money on professional services.
This is a really good point. Companies have to have a continuous revenue stream. Make the product to simple to use and you lose out on the consulting, etc.
Make an electric car that needs no maintenance or oil changes and there are no maintenance charges to create a constant revenue stream. Same thing.
Oracle is anti-design bc they make lots of money on professional services. Oracle UIs are pure crap thrown together by some horse loving fire crotch [i know she is reading this] who copies whatever is the most popular crap they can't buy. The new Oracle design site looks about as pitiful as the crap they push as cloud.
Frankenstein user experience
It may be that this will happen when stitching apps together, but the upper level management won't care. Oracle is not oriented around perfecting anything. It will just be hacked together in whatever way is cheapest. UX people for redesigning things like that will not be used. UX people are a luxury, not a requirement. I would bet that many more will be gone before long. Oracle can't afford luxury.
The problem of stitching together apps from different companies is over time you risk a Frankenstein user experience. UX is more than just about building apps.
UX people are not needed. You would only need them if you were planning on building apps in-house. That will not be the plan, just buy small "cloud" companies and "integrate" them. Only back-end work to be done. No UI to design.
LE never cared about or understood UX and the fact that oracle had no cloud app dev to talk about means that it doesn’t need UX developers. So there you have it in a nutshell. Oracle cloud is dead because it never existed
i heard that JU org which is another ux team is next on the block as the the blood continues to flow
@ojc UX is user experience
What is “UX”?
most companies are battling for ux talent so its very telling when a company like oracle lays them off especially when they are in cloud.
50 in one group and others yet to come
How many?
Showboat. Ha! He was responsible for some of the most hideous user interfaces ever created. No clue about the qualification for real ux person but software from Oracle is far from elegant and would never think of any of it as an experience other than really bad.
Guess the writing was on the wall when showboat JA was shown the door.
My impression of the UX people is they spend their time making up ridiculous requirements for groups their managers want to attack. They aren't real UX people as far as I can see. Good to get rid of a bunch of them. Good riddance.
Oracle has a ux team ? Have you ever seen their products ? Not really known to be the most user friendly.
