Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

GE Power is in for a ride

After my layoff from Greenville I realized that GE is going to do some crazy stuff.

1-Purchase the steam Alstom plant

2-started laying off when demand is at the lowest white collar

3-salary harassed blue collar workers across Power division to see how many would walk out to avoid the bad press about layoffs.

4-Mass Layoffs in waves white and blue collar

5-ship steam and gas turbines and generators overseas to Alstom. Alstom has 5 bunkers to test rotors and fields. Clean state of the art facility.

6-NY plant might have 400 blue collar workers for bar shop by 2019-2020 if your lucky everything else will get moved to 1 centralize location in Europe.

Most importantly if your in the Power Division anywhere in the USA I would be seeking a new career just like many salary colleagues have done and will do. Don’t expect any package deals to walk just maybe a few weeks paid.

Believe what you want it is worse than the media knows!

GE Power in Charlottesville contends that productivity was up 18% and that we made proxy for Q1...financials don’t seem to reflect this and with folks jumping ship we know things are worse than what is being said...

I am glad I am part of IS and we are being sold to ABB who will hopefully take care of the business and love the employees. Most of the Appliances employees are thankful they got sold to Haier.
