Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Is it done?

Do we know for sure this round of layoffs is done and we will not be ambushed by more come next week?

I've been on the edge as it is, it'd be nice to be able to relax at least a little bit.

Job security used to be a thing here, nowadays, it's just a myth. I wonder if we will ever go back to being able to work without having to fear for our job constantly...

Look... the fact is the executives are targeting “top quartile” for operational spending. Implied in that is that there is no next tranche or phased exits. It will continue indefinitely.

I’m comfortable with it. I’ve been here a long time. I’ve watched the company grow without thought and direction. I’ve seen it get truly screwded. And if I’m exited I will say thank you and move on. But the default future is abject failure. I know why they are doing what they dating.

The company does not owe it to me or you to preserve our little ecosystem. Own your fate.

From conversations I’ve heard, I’d expect it to be another 12-18 months before anybody can exhale. I know for a fact that there are more groups with layoffs later in the year once certain targets are met.

Not a corporate troll, but if you want to stay (and I have no idea why you would unless you’re one of the fatcat overpaid managers), your only real optIon is to ignore the possibility and keep making yourself as valuable as possible. That means don’t ask for a raise.

For the rest of us, who are more realistic, as other commenters have said, get your personal finances and resume in order, and start applying for new jobs now. Even if you get an offer before you’re laid off, you don’t have to accept it, but at least then you will have options.

We are safe now, it is done. As long as we work hard, bear down on costs and maximize profits then there is no reason to do further workforce reductions. Our destiny is in our own hands. E= excellence in what we do = company success = employee well-being

See the “Spectra Layoffs” thread below, particularly the one about Specta employees being grazing sheep about to be slaughtered at the 18 month mark.

I've heard from management that things will look better over the next year. Not sure about this year specifically but beyond that, business is expected to move forward and become 'business as usual'. keeping my fingers crossed for friends and family who are still employed there!
