Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

managers getting fired over a survey.

it seems that they are going after long term people. from what i seen, managers are being let go based on a survey they did and how many coachings they have. we lost a manager who had a clean record but because his survey wasnt what they wanted to hear ,they let him go. he was told it had nothing to do with his performance. i swear this company has hit an all time low. it really sad to see whats happening and i hope karma pays a visit to the individuals who is making all these changes. its absurd to fire someone not based on their performance and to do it soley based on a survey. this company is basically telling me ,as long as i answer the questions the way they want i ok . screw my work ethic.

Your leadership gets together and does talent rankings behind closed doors. I highly doubt these rankings are based on objective facts.

I wonder how it would play out in court if someone could prove they got fired based on their par score and the par score process is not based on objective fact?

The company doesn’t want anyone to know, but a big part of the deciding factor was the MM, the regional Vice President and Hr were in a room together and decided your fate. No protection against past open doors, no chance to defend yourself, just pure biases opionions on people making decisions based on someone’s career. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen, especially if the truth comes out.

I totally agree let’s stand up what are they gonna do, they’ve already displaced (fired) us. Displaced is a term of termination let’s face it.

Why don’t you all get together and get a lawyer. In most cases a lawyer would love to take this company on. Get a thread going assistant’s and CM’s and make this right.

What questions were asked in this survey to gauge talent? Examples of questions please?

I found the email asking us to do the survey. It clearly states that the company is asking all managers to take the survey because the company has no other way to gauge talent. I'm gonna reach out to the regional manager on Monday and give them an opportunity to fix there screw up. If I get the same response I'm taking legal action. I have all documents needed for this one. They should have looked closer and made sure everyone had taken the survey. Let's be fair and consistent....

The survey didn't mean anything. It all came down to your MM. I know I have more experience AND knowledge than another ASM who took the survey. I marked that I WOULD be willing to relocate...He marked he WOULD NOT... My MM likes him more than myself and it's been obvious for a long time. Oh I'm sorry, I always support the associates when the GM and ASM treats them unfairly. Thats what I get for being a decent human being and trying to have some ethical behavior and follow the companies expectations. Pay me out!

I think the current Market Managers are going to be the hatchet people who do all the firing then will be replaced themselves. Especially with the new market realignments. The moral in our Club is beyond an all-time low. You wanted to get rid of people? You got it. There will be no talent left and maybe that has been the plan all along. Trying to keep up with Amazon is ridiculous and why???? Does it really matter that you're number 2 now? I'm not spending my Sam's Share at the Club and will be downgrading from my plus membership, as well.

If I took the survey I'd give an example.

Market Manager finally responds, after 2 days of emails and phone calls I received a phone call today. After explaining my LOA and a missed survey my Former Market Manager Responds with, ( the talent review wasnt soley based on the survey it was based on several different things) here's the only problem I have, if my employment being terminated had nothing to do with the survey, why was it mentioned to the entire market through conference call? Why was everyone on the call reminded of the survey took in late November. The only other way to gauge a mangers TALENT is through evaluation which was also never completed to to a leave of absence. I shouldn't ever have taken an Flma LOA. At least then I would have been able to take this survey and submit my eval. How else is Sams club wal-mart gonna gauge talent? What a joke.

They did everyone a favor. Move on and watch the inevitable train wreck.

Many more Casualties to come , same Market Managers will be going who created this Massacre.

People who were handed a severance packet also got a FAQs packet. The very first question asked

  1. Why is my employment being terminated?

Operations leadership conducted an extensive talent review of most managers across the organization. Based on the results of the talent review, you were not selected for a position with Sam's club.

I would get a lawyer. If you did not take the survey and you have that statement on paper you should fight it....

I was let go after an extensive talent review was conducted. Here's the kicker, the talent review was conducted based on a survey taken in late November, in late November I was on an approved LOA. Now I'm sitting here with a severance that states OPERATIONS LEADERSHIP CONDUCTED AN EXTENSIVE TALENT REVIEW OF MOST MANAGERS ACROSS THE ORGANIZATION, BASED ON THE RESULTS OF THE TALENT REVIEW, YOU WERE NOT SELECTED FOR A POSTION WITH SAMS CLUB. the whole reason for a LOA is to protect our employment. In this case I should have been given an opportunity to take this survey.
