Many managers from clubs that were closing, already intent on pursuing positions at other companies, are now being offered similar paying positions, some up to 50 miles from their home. These managers now will not receive a severance since they were offered a position elsewhere, whether they accept or not. Meanwhile the managers in the in stores, still open for business, are being blindsided and told they are "at this point being relieved of all management responsibilities."

This exact thing happened to my husband a few years ago during the last re-org. Completely s---ed....such a long day to drive that extra hour each way :(
And what happens to the severance if the position they offer are more than 200 miles away?
Yes, Severance packages are being withdrawn for some. If they offer you a comparable job, then they are removing severance. Lets say that job is an additional hour away (<50 miles). Turning your 10-12 hour day into a 14-15 hour day. They breakout the relocation policy to spin it a positive. You refuse, you have until mid April to find a new job at another club.
To the person who responded above. It is a total mind screw to do that. 3 weeks ago they say sorry guys your club is closing. People cope and set plans in motion with the 60 day notification period pay in mind and the severance. Then at the 11th hour Sams offers then a position right before that period is scheduled to start. It is dirty pool to save them money. Sam Walton would be so embarrassed of this company and what it has become.
If you wonder if this post is just someone chiming in I assure you it is not. I find out my fate later this week so this saga is hitting close to home.
Well if they are being offered a comparable position and they don’t take it. The. It is on them to leave the company
