Lowell’s webcast is today. Will he announce a bonus for employees due to tax breaks like other giant companies?

Golly, really? AT&T laid off some employees? I'm having a little trouble getting your point, considering that I was one of over 16,000 laid off by Verizon at the end of last year. That $1000 doesn't look too bad right now.

Its comical that there are Verizon Kool-aid drinking trolls on this site. Some of us unfortunately are stuck for a little longer or in the process of leaving. Every company has its ups and downs but the direction or lack of direction that Verizon has is very clear. Upper management doesn't care about anyone. They have no development. This company has changed and if you don't want to open your eyes to see that then your probably one of the problems that is preventing this company from being forward thinking

Would that be about $433 million cost to the company (162,000 employees at $53.50 per share today)...well not really, if the stock drops after two years it would be less. It's not real money yet. Considering the company will save Billions in taxes (Thank you Mr. Trump) its just a pittance in the scheme of things.

Lowell tells the media: we are giving employees 50 shares! Look how great Verizon is!

Lowell tells HR: Cut severence to one week per year and hurry up and bring me my list.

All those that are complaining should just quit and find another job that you probably will complain about also.

so if you take a huge pay cut when the team commission happens and stay 2 years you will get your shares of stock. Nice Lowell.

@zzb, people like you drive me nuts.

You cherry-pick, and only give the 1/2 of the story that supports your agenda.

Yes, I too understand that a certain other company gave $1,000 bonuses.

I also understand that the very same company that laid off many of those employees that received that bonus a week or two earlier.

It's important, when debating, to be honest and forthright, even when telling the whole story doesn't suit your agenda.

@ads - what "people" are you even talking about? You mean Verizon leadership? They have already proven many times over the years they are scum of the earth.

Understand this: Verizon will never do anything that is in the best interest of its employees without a self serving benefit. Period.

Pull your head out of your a$$ v teamer...

AT&T and Comcast are both giving their employees $1,000 bonus.... with the tax reform they are saving BILLIONS giving employees 50 shares is the least they can do. However its especially comical that 1. They can't give our money now in bonuses like the other companies & 2. You have to vest it for 2 years, meaning yes you have to stay employed with Verizon. The amount of turn over in the next two years will easily allow them to not pay this to thousands of employees. But hey, can't hate on the company for only caring about themselves and not the front line. Higher level positions don't need the shares anyways. 50 shares= around $3,000ish dollars. The amount I'm getting less in commission over the next few months pays for that in itself. Way to spin it Verizon. Almost as good as loosing a personal day for MLK day and pretending to be progressive. Kudos

Does this mean layoffs? I was unable to listen to the webcast. Any mention of closing stores? Good question about having to stay employed for another 2 years and wait for those shares to vest.

Quit your bellyaching. You folks are so jaded.

How about you give people a chance to do the right thing before bashing them mercilessly?

You're so mean to other human beings, people with feelings and emotions, just like yours.

Shares vest after 2 years. So if you leave the company before then you get zip?

Instead of 10,0000 losing their jobs this year, there will only be 9,000? That would be outstanding. Lowell is a great leader and a fearless human man!

Found this on CNBC ...

"Verizon will announce later today how employees will further share in the company's success, and the company will also be increasing contributions to the Verizon Foundation by $200 million to $300 million over the next two years," the company said in a statement. "These two initiatives have a projected EPS impact of 5 to 6 cents for each of the next two years."

hope ... :)
