Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Small stores & flu epidemic

So here's the dilemma, you are the SM of a small store, you do CT, it's rush & you get the horrible flu that is going around. What to do, go home get better, let things go as they may & worry about it when you get back??

I am the only keyholder so I can't take a sick day or use vacation time without closing the store. RM is out of state so no help there.

Call in sick if you are sick. How will you feel about this decision when you are laid off in 6 months.

Based on the last 6 years, just ask yourself what would the company do if it were in your shoes. They lookout for numero uno.

take care of you. If you come in sick and mistakes are made, that you came in sick won't matter. Your health is one of the things you'll be selling to your next employer. Take care of it !

Certainly your RM is the person you need to contact concerning your dilemma, and it will be their responsibility to either cover or find someone to fill-in for you while you are on the mend. However, having said that, this is a true dilemma for the RM...how do you cover for 30 stores when stores are short staffed, especially management personnel, and there are always situations when managers or key management are unable to work during rush periods. I know that my very respected RM retired a couple of years ago because he felt that this was an impossible situation. Much is expected of an RM, and they have diminishing resources at their disposal to keep the business in operation.

r.m. should be the one to step in and step up, although we know that won't happen.

If you have a fever you shouldn't be at work.

I am a small store and same happens to me. And good luck being able to take vacation time-never coverage for that either
