Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Check your pay

Your pay in MPI will reflect if you are being terminated.

If there is a check # issued instead of your normal automatic deposit etc.... expect to be terminated.

Good luck everyone

The bottom line is that if you see an unexpected check listed in your account, you should assume you're about to lose your job. If you don't see an unexpected check, you can't be sure.

It all depends on laws in your state. Some require a physical check for your final pay on the day you are laid off. Others require cash for final pay on the day you are laid off. Others allow direct deposit or what ever your regular method of pay is. All depends on the state.

Unless posters indicate what state they are in, then this thread is pointless. When my store closed every check I received, from last paycheck through last severance check, was via direct deposit. There were no interruptions at all, completely seamless. The last time I received a physical check from Sears was decades ago.

So what is it? Last check a physical check and then direct deposit severance or direct deposit the whole time. Also, those who are not eligible for severance (partimers, hourly) get a physical check on the last pay period or direct deposit?

And isn't pay a week or two behind?

Again not true. My last check was a check, then 3 weeks later my severance was direct deposit

@1gkd- That was severance pay which is a big difference. If you don't get any serverance then your last check will be a physical check. No part timers get severence.

I guess it depends on the state. In most states they require check for final pay. Be careful with generalized statements. Saying that's not true is a dangerous thing. Just because it didn't happen to you don't make it false. I guarantee it was true for me when I saw it the night before I was laid off.

Lol this isn’t true. My position was cut and I got direct deposit regularly throughout the end of my severance.

@swl Have some patience and kindness. The other poster was just asking. No need for nasty.

Who cares when "everyone else gets paid" you should know your own pay schedule. If you see a random paycheck posted to your 88sears that's not on a pay day and that is issued as a check, shows a vacation payout, etc then it should be extremely obvious what that means.

@yry You mean the final paycheck? It'll take a week or so to come in the regular mail.
