Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Humana In Home

Friday's for me are like waiting for the next shift to come in and relieve you. But tonight was different. After 6 years as an HCMRN, first time I ever sat after hours and re watched the town hall meeting. With all the changes going on... I wanted to get a better grasp of what was said. HAH now: 260,000 are managed, 190,000 are monitored. By end of year the goal is 200,000 managed and 500,000 monitored. Their focus is in home. Honestly... thinking of patient outcomes, this is a better approach. The one guy came onboard in Oct 2017. That last round happened in Nov.2017. Its all transitioning pretty quick. Grad surveys being renewed every 80 days. Last week I opened my roster and had 52 alerts. Approximately 20-25 went to monitored Bc I can't lie... they are managing well and no hospitalizations or ER visits. These "new" members from PHC are most likely going to graduate... only reason PHC placed them into managed is due to needing meds, coverage info, etc. New care plans are much to be desired.... non specific noting and "the story" of our call notes are down to 2-3 lines. HCCP looks like home care visits. HCM RNs left will be schedulers for visits or 24/7 nurse line #s. Emphasis on pharmacy and in home.

@1hfo. You must have not read much here! That is not drama. Just reality. Let's see what other surprises we get before our last day.

Just saying. No drama needed. You added the drama part. I have three interviews lined up at higher pay rate than I’m making now. Getting off the ship before the next round of layoffs in April. I don’t have enough members to call everyday now.

The HAH ship is sinking. Did anyone notice how HAH isn't even mentioned? I think they'll soon announce a new name. don't fool yourselves. More layoffs are coming. You don't need nurses to schedule visits. That can be done from tge new CS center in Manila! Imagine the monitored members trying to get answers from overseas! After all this fiasco changing strategies, Humana will miss the Stars quality targets with all its billions. It's all about the money, like any for profit company and that's how it's supposed to be. But sorry Bruce, these changes will not achieve the quality goals to get the juicy Stars bonuses.

OP here. I agree. She did add behavioral health as well in the town hall. The care plans are not user friendly and most options do not fit the care. I remember the focus being HEDIS, comprehensives, careplans... and call notes. Now it's care plans and grad surveys. All my mDATS are overdue on monitored members...and I agree on that we did our part.

The care plan program options are not appropriate or user friendly

In addition, we were told to move members to monitored if we have a connection established with the member but are getting UTCs now. For me, it is a relief to not have to call my monitored members monthly and struggle to do a care plan. It shows my member's successes along with mine. Only a couple of members are having a hard time with monitored status. I know that they view me as a friend also. Giving my members the tools that they needed to go to monitor status gives me great satisfaction that i did my job well, even though I may be out of work this year. Care plan drop downs are not as user friendly as they could be, just my opinion.

They told us the focus was pharmacy, in home and behavioral health last year

Agreed. HCM-RNs: if the thought of in home care doesn’t appeal to you, probably ought to be making an escape plan for the not so distant future.
