Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Flannery's communication skills

Got to admit JF has become a better communicator since the first (laughing) all hands. But i believe he is the same person he has always been. He could not wait to get out on the road around the globe to stroke his ego, very much like Jeff. Based on the state of the company he should be hunkering down solving issues. But like CNBC analyst said it is just more success theater. JF seems to throw ideas out to media and then listens to all the feedback to make a decision. I hope this works as i am an employee and stock holder that did not see issues do to all the lies.

JF to me seems to listen to much to HR and finance. This business about changing the culture is taking way to much resources and will not change anything. Culture evolves based on many things but mainly the success of the company. Has anyone seen any transparency, integrity that they can share. I have seen just the opposite. Do they tell us about layoffs? No they seem to hide them with excuse of protecting employees privacy. Couldn't they tell us the numbers and/or groups that would be transparent.

Anyone paying attention should realize that GE is in a crisis. They have always appeared to look for the easy way to make a buck. Selling manufacturing companies like appliances and now transportation because its to hard of work for the lower margins.

Now they want to focus on software. Digital is ripe for failure. They can't compete on the scale they want to and are way overstaffed at 25000 employees. They could cut 25% without missing a beat. Also on the time and money on the horizontal effort will not work. What do you think?

Cheer up 3nxf. It's not that bad. Maybe the problem isn't them so much.

"HR sorority" is an accurate description. We can't even get basic HR transactions done anymore...

the top execs are handsomely paid, honestly even more than they deserve, even when you factor in the stress and all the rest. We live in a period of history dominated by great inequality. This is yet another example. No compassion for the execs, they just won a lottery out of a bunch of many people trying hard and working harder than them. Luck, coincidences, right connections. Stop complaining here. Just watch your back, don't trust any of them, never never never trust them. Stay true to your values of honesty and hard working. Nothing good will ever come from the execs. They are out there just for themselves. Don't trust any pitch around culture change. They don't mean it. Just focus on what is under your control. 90% of what we discuss here is outside of our control. Remember: the execs, the "leader" will never help you, unless they see an immediate interest for them.

HE has a hard job. GE in bad shape. WS pressure. You can't just come out and talk about bad things really are but he doesn't have much he can say. Let the financial shenanigans begin. Just restated earnings for 2015 & 2016 so now the bar has been reset really low. Did someone mention "software company"? WS loves this talk, true or not, no details needed. Because they sell a story of revenue with and a lot fewer people/resources required.

GE leaders need to face jail time. They don’t care if the SEC fines GE. Jail time is the ONLY dose of reality those rich millionaires fear. Jail would cut into their permanent boondoggle lifestyle.

Anyone notice that JF just hired a top-tier compliance lawyer? He knows GE is in serious legal trouble, but he will not admit it. Transparency and accountability, yea....

His communication skills have improved??? He is appears nervous, unsure at every opportunity and can only lead to an increased lack of confidence by analysts, investors, customers, employees, etc

Much of GE's problems today can be traced to JW leaving behind the HR sorority in charge of promotions.
