Who's putting in their notice on Monday after the STIP check is in the bank?

“I agree. He will be gone before me. That I can guarantee.”
If the job that you do takes 9 months to learn to do at minimal competency, and 2 years to do with reasonable proficiency, then okay. Otherwise I’ll take that bet.
To further this thread, I can also state that I would welcome a layoff, so I get my package that takes me to pension. BUT, doesn't seem to be in the cards. Last year I even demonstated how my Operations department and specifically the function I perform could be shared out and thus we have too many bodies in our department. Know what they said??????
Sorry but you have far too much Corporate Knowledge of our field operations and we need you. Stay till retirement (55), then we will bring you on contract seasonally. So I continue on, looking busy, but living stress free. Counting the money and counting the days till I turn 55.
The minute I
I agree. He will be gone before me. That I can guarantee. He will become too expensive as time goes on.
@the 20 year person: you're the perfect target because you're expensive. Easier to get rid of you old folks and hire cheap people (remember Al's desire for youth!)
Plenty of people with many many years of experience have been laid off. Good, hard working people who were good at their jobs.
“I have given them 30 years of loyal dedicat d service.”
No, you didn’t. They paid you for it. Nobody gave anybody anything.
I agree but trust me I know just how to keep ahead of the dismissal with cause issues. Brother is a labour lawyer and he guides me well.
Also the packages Enbridge gives in Canada are in line with labour law requiresments. So no worries about them changing.
Yes, thankfully got my new offer in writing on Friday and turning in my notice on Monday. But To those who aren’t right around the corner from retirement, you aren’t doing yourselves favors by dialing it in until you “get a package.” If you aren’t marketable or ensuring that you have something to offer elsewhere, you are lazy and that package doesn’t get you very far into the future. And whose to say Enbridge can afford to continue those generous packages? Get sloppy with questionable ethics and they don’t owe you anything but a way out the door. Don’t expect anyone but you to look out for you.
I have given them 30 years of loyal dedicat d service. So have many of my co workers who have been now let go. So I see what loyalty gets you.
I have a clear conscience and even better I have a great stress free life now and for the future. I am within two years of retirement, so I am Teflon. These last two years will help me finish paying off my vacation home. Good times good times.
And as for my managers, they are useless as I have been offered contract work if I desire it when I am done. Fools. But great offer. Now I will be able to take winters off, head south and come back in the summer to do the same thing and further fund my retirement.
You would be shocked how many employees with my level of service are doing this.
Cheers.
Who is more useless me for not doing any work or management for not noticing?
“I will keep showing up and collecting paychecks in the meantime. I havent done any work in 2 years and nobody has even noticed or if they have they just dont care.“
I don’t know how people like you can live with yourself. What you’re doing is theft, and you’ve somehow managed to achieve a state of cognitive dissonance that’s remarkable. It makes you a useless employee and a bad person.
I know of at least 3 in Canada
In the US, yes. They were waiting for the bonus. Not so much in Canada yet.
Wow! People are leaving in droves. Seven so far I know personally. Anybody else seeing similar actions by fellow coworkers?
I quit right after Jan 1st and got my cheque last night!
Don’t worry or feel bad about it. Just look busy and take the money. The Managers are all to stupid to figure it out.
I work at EGD in Toronto, Operations. So easy to look busy especially if you have years of system field experience. They call it corporate knowledge and they don’t want to lose it. To me these are the best years I have ever had here
I wish i could leave but i have 25 years so just showing up and doing nothing until i get a package. I will keep showing up and collecting paychecks in the meantime. I havent done any work in 2 years and nobody has even noticed or if they have they just dont care.
Sorry I think you misread my post. I love where I am. I am on Easy Street cruzing along. Don’t want to work anymore. Just getting money and getting ready to leave.
If you want busy, come to Infrastructure Planning and Lifecycle Effectiveness. We are overloaded with work and projects. So if you have a strong knowledge in terminals, hydraulics, Enbridge system workings and project management then you would be a good fit.
To be honest I personally love working here now. All you have to do is look busy. To do this just volunteer for every committee you can. That way you can always talk about all you are doing. BUT in reality I am doing nothing and have been doing this for a long time. The Company doesn’t care anymore and why should I. Managers are morons as they actually buy the fact I am busy. I get a great pay and bonus relative to what I ACTUALLY do. I am stress free and will ride this out till I retire which is in 2years when I get to 55. As a 30 year employer even if they lay me off I will still get my retirement as the package will get me there. So nothing to lose. Trust me I am not the only one doing this.
I personally know 4 individuals who have put in their notice. I know just as many who are actively looking for work elsewhere. I suspect that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Obviously this is what Enbridge is hoping for. Obviously if enough jump ship the likelihood of another layoff diminishes. I foresee my workload increasing exponentially. Needless to say, the cost of living annual pay increase doesn’t begin to compensate me for the additional burden I know I will have to shoulder.
I think many of us, if not majority of us are just pretending to be busy but realistically it is hard to focus and be really productive with all the disruptions due to constant changes for 3 years. If anything, it causes lower productivity, low morale or no morale at all, back stabbing, a-- kissing, no trust with anyone and/or management, just going to work for money. I bet some people will say “I don’t care” if the company experience another leak. People felt alienated and not valued anymore. I for one pretend that I believe it when someone tells me I am valued. On a hindsight, I think I am just a number anyway and I should be grateful to have a job as no one owes me anything anyway.
LTIP aren’t good incentives and there are a lot of conditions to get them. More lies
Same here, minimal effort until i get an offer somewhere else.
I’m in touch with other companies and will leave when the time is right. Until then minimal effort.
Wohoo Yes, go IPLE go!!!! Is there any openings in IPLE that I can apply? Btw, what does IPLE stands for? Is it not Idiot and Powerless but Lovable Employee???
Nobody from IPLE likely. Many of our PMs received discretionary LTIP packages, it's nice to see that leadership recognizes our skills and contributions and rewards us accordingly. It's simply prudent business management to invest resources where your greatest return can be yielded from.
