Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Town hall today

Someone please let me know your thoughts.... Did I hear the lady on the phone correctly when she stated the goal at the end of the year was to have 100,000 members in HCCP managed and 500,000 or more monitored? If so, that definitely means more layoffs.

We will see won’t we. No worries for me. I’m going to ride the wave until I get severance.

@ixfx. Puh-Leeze. You think that I should the only reason people answer? Ask any of the one she using auto dialer....people are answering their phones

If Rosters go away then that is the end of HAH . No one will answer. The only reason they answer now is because we have engaged them

Please stop believing the hype in these town halls. History has proved that they fabricate and have never had an honest conversation with their employees. Move on, find stability in nursing again. It is not with Humana.

However they want to do it - AD or rosters - is fine with me and I’ll adjust to anything. All I ask in return is a break from layoffs for a while, some relief from that anxiety (I know it’s a business and all that, but it’s stressful to worry like this).

Whatever changes come, as long as I still have a job, I’ll adjust and do my best with it. My kids, mortgage, bills - I just can’t stand to worry.

Sounds like rosters are going away, It’ll be calls made from auto dialer. Probably won’t talk to the same people every month and forget about personal relationships with members.

I’m going to watch the recording. I’m confused and just looking for some sense of job stability.

Haven’t you figured out that they lie? Trust is a luxury you can’t afford when you work for Inhumana

100k and 200k were both said. Let's assume the 200k is the correct number. Roster sizes are going back up to 240. That's just over 800 nurses. The current RIF put the number at what? 1200 left? Even with attrition that will occur naturally following a layoff that's still many more than is needed. Another lay off is inevitable. They've told us after every layoff that another wasn't planned all last year. We know they lied 4 times, why wouldn't they a fifth?

@RRjNpJG-1qbb C. Would know the exact numbers more than WF would. That's why it was referred to her. Give me a break!

@qbb, I went back to the chat from the call and actually pulled up and copied her response of the numbers, there were different things thrown around, which is right?

@1yga, she said we have about 90,000 monitored members and 265,000 managed. We will go down to somewhere between 100,000-200,000 managed members if you read between the lines of what she and WF said. There will be another RIF based on those numbers.

Yes and they said they were going to let 250 people go last round. How did that work out for us? They are going to layoff more people. That is what they are telling us. Come on! Plan for it

I went over the info again...now we manage 190,000 and monitor 260,000. By the end of the year, they want to manage 200,000 and monitor 500,00...so, the managed number pretty much stays the same...no cuts in half

There are less than 1000 case managers now. If they want 100,000 managed that is 400 case managers. If you really need your paycheck you better be looking for another position .

@1fd.... I agree with you, but what about those town hall meetings where we were shown graphs of how many days we kept people out of the hospital? We were told the three pillars were home health, behavioral health and pharmacy last year, I think the big take way from yesterday’s meeting is what was presented as a 2-3 year plan to transition to home health is happening quicker with the kindred deal and the pilot programs of humanas own home health agencies that are in place.

This goes back to a question from another thread....when the program first started, how many nurses and social workers were there? That may be the number it gets cut back to. I think after this last round of “some but not all”, there will be 100 hcmss and 1000 CMs. Or, we may be scaled back to all were going to be, after they do PIPs on those that can’t do the work in the 40 hr period to lay them off, as fired, not laid off, and cull that way.

It’s like survivor: the big h.

@RRjNpJG-1iri They are not billed and Humana at Home doesn't get paid. The whole concept of Monitored is that the member has agreed to the program IF they need it. Humana don't BILL medicare, the cost of Telephonic management comes from savings not through billing. The concept is that Humana save a bundle through care management. HAH has not been providing savings on claims and that's why the service has been reduced. This idea that Medicare is billed drives me nuts.

Every 80 days we renew the grad survey. More and more going into monitored status. The poster before me is so right. Monitored are just sitting there. They are waiting on Kindred to come aboard... that's all that is. They should call us Humana In Home Bc that is where it's going. How many of us HCM RNs are left after March 9th? Next step.. prob offering who is left Field case mgr position... in home care. I can't wait until April!

Tell me how those members in monitored status are making the company money, since a care manager not calling them, how they billing for them??? Or is that how it works with medicare

Tax breaks: 50% to share holders, the rest to “make it better for us!” Right, did he forget that people who got laid off were on the call?

And, to pay for this tax break so he and B.B. can line their pockets, this will be cutting into Medicare benefits. It’s got to get paid somehow.

Rumor was next layoffs would be in April....they’re cutting the remaining back while they go to a skeleton crew to support those they can’t help by location or technology deficient.

One of the very first things said in the meeting was how great the tax credit was for “the big H”. He ADMITTED that 50% of the money went to share holders ! 50% ! WHY? They boosted the minimum wage, and gave us a bonus. What bonus?? They took away any raise we might be eligible for. They sent our IT help to Manila. They fired our friends and left the rest of us not knowing from day to day what will happen to our lives. We were all hired for our awesome assessment skills. I guess we don’t need our new leaders telling us what is next for us. Change is one thing. This is something else.

Kindred deal or not, less managed members equals more layoffs. I barely have enough members to call now.

He said the deal with Kindred will be complete by summer. Not once did he say we would be making changes by summer. I took notes during this meeting.

Unless they’re transferring to in home care, either way, buckle up for the monitoring, point in time assessment and more layoffs. They originally said in 2-3 years, but this guy made it seem with kindred we’d be doing it this summer, which means the kindred staff in place will stay, and layoffs are coming by the summer, probably
