Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

March layoffs?

Been hearing some chatter at the office about possible March layoffs, but I can't figure out what started the rumor.

Do we know if there really is another round coming next month or is this just the usual office crap that bored people come up with when things look too calm?

There were layoffs. 1000 people in March. More to come but end of FY18 as all part of "restructuring"

Another round of rif/reorg in routing and switching is imminent per water cooler talk just not announced yet. Several powerful director+ types let go or forced into ic role... r&s continued its slude with 5% drop last qtr

I feel top execs see no future in r&s and will continue trimming and doing bare minimum to sustain installed base while buying up pure sw companies to change the center of gravity. Wall street loves it. And stock buybacks to pacify investors than rsu to keep good employees happy. Its financial engineering driven not product or engineering driven mindset

My prediction is csco will be a profitable 15b/annum in 10 years time , with 30% of current headcount and different cast of characters

Top execs will continue to pocket huge packages

After 15+ years i finally realized its futile waste of my time to wait here and started looking out

"Mate, rest assured, the "letter" buildings are safe as they are chock full of services and thus, h1b visa types. The cost basis down there is a lot better than any of the numbered buildings"

Yes, even if they wipe out an entire product, there's always another telephone hotline call they can put you on. No worries there.

Definitely no more layoffs. The share price is booming, all the signs are positive.

Unless you’re in Lawrenceville. Then you are f---ed.

Now I know why I don’t get promoted or big bonuses. I haven’t had any significant failing. Please make me CEO for a day. I guarantee to accelerate the decline faster. I also promise to bring all the money back from overseas in one go.

From the people deal:

"We innovate everywhere to create fresh ideas and possibilities. Taking bold risks to shape the future because we understand every failure is a success if we learn from it."

So sounds like we should all be safe. Not had a failure yet? - quick go and have one, and start learning from it!

Have heard another "bottom 5%” trim is happening.

There is common consensus on this board that only old people get laid off at Cisco. You better check your source.

Because the CFO can't live on $8 million a year. A few layoffs will need to happen to justify executive raises. I'd hate to see the CFO only get a $700,000 raise.

Why would Cisco lay anyone off? It’s all going really well.

Cisco sold another 3 buildings on Tasman. Hopefully no one is in buildings M, N, or O. That brings the total up to 14 for buildings terminated on campus.
