Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Who Are The Engineers Approving Facilitates For The Fiber?

Does Verizon expect to be in the FIOS or the fiber communication delivery business 5 years from now? The installation technicians in the NYC are running today what is essentially temp service to complete a lot of installation orders, especially in commercial business areas.

The fiber terminals are so far and few between and placed in areas so remote it takes 1000 feet or more APC connected in increments of clear curve fiber to run over roofs down sides of buildings though parking garages tie wrapped to fences and gutter drains and other ridiculous things to get to the customer.

A typical fiber installation order in these areas from the MDU will pass multiple old copper terminals sometimes as many as 7 to 10 before reaching the customer. This tells me that the Fiber Network is a temporary solution to whatever is planned. These insane runs of clear curve fiber that are out in the elements and in the conditions they're in will not last 5 years. That's a fact!

No way to treat the customer.

The old Copper terminals outnumber the new fiber terminals 15 to 1 in the business areas. You are expected to provide service to the same amount of customers but on the new fiber terminals. and they want to know whats taking so much time.

Yes, its called One Fiber. Its being built like crazy all over the place, except it seems, in the VZT footprint. Draw your own conclusions on that one.

I read an article that said Verizon just placed an order with Corning for 1.1 billion for fiber. They must be planning on another build.

Wireless in whatever form can never take the place of a dedicated connection. It's just not reliable in so many variables, especially in urban areas. Build the fiber plant network correctly. simple.

The engineers that designed the copper plant are spinning in their graves at this abortion of a fiber plant.
