Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Full of it!

I was only with the company for 5 years and was not a jr employee nor was I a senior. My pdr was good and I saved the company money repeatedly each year by coming up with cost effective solutions within the department I was with. Yet, I had people who were above me that were within a year or less of retirement and yet, I was selected to be removed. My only downfall was last year I incurred a injury while on the job to put me out for almost 2 months. So please, someone explain to me how I was selected over others. How I have to explain to my family why their father/spouse is having to now start over again. I hate how it was done. I hate everything about them. To sit there and justify their faulty mistakes and yet, we will be giving out bonuses to front line employees. How we still receive a pay raise, but we are going to cut over 5K jobs. How you can sit on your mighty throne and muster up the nerve to say well we made cuts where we needed too with no personal influence from directors/managers or anything else. You chose to do it without merit. Or what skills one brought into the window. I for one, think you all within the upper management level are full of it. I hope you one day will have to pay for what you have done. But I doubt it, you will go on and continue to rip apart families all for the sake of what you felt was right instead of owning up to the mistakes you consistently keep making year after year after year. I thank myself for bettering myself while there so that I am now employable and marketable. I will never buy from you again, I will never promote this so called liberalistic company again.

Please keep in mind that there are a lot of people that were within a year of two of retirement that WERE let go. People that will find it very difficult, at their age, to find another job.

That you are younger means that you were one of those they used to average out the numbers so that they weren't setting themselves up for an ageism lawsuit. Plus, with only 5 years, you got a smaller severance package so were cheaper to remove.

If you're that good of an employee you will land on your feet very quickly, especially with Pepsi on your resume. Good luck and I hope that you learn to appreciate those around you. Teamwork is a mighty skill to have.

Good post and feel your pain to the tee!!!!! I was a L11 before I unjustly was laid off wiyhout reason. I have a wife and 2 kids under the age of 5. I played 4 different roles in my department and received tremendous feedback for the work i did and efficiencies that I enabled. Yet I was laid off, and was told it wasnt at all due to my performance. Been a tough week.

You millenials need to learn that people aren't going to hold your hands and pull you up the corporate ladder unless they like you. Hard workers are a dime a dozen, but trusted allies are on a whole other level.

It's a company that manufactures and markets junk food. It's not going to be run by the best and brightest.
