Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

The Grass is Actually Greener on the Other Side

I’d like to offer a supportive word of solace for those suffering this week. In my personal experience, leaving PEP and never looking back was the best thing for myself and my family. No company is perfect, but the threatening HR atmosphere and lack of management vision at PEP has existed for the fifteen years I can recall. Rest assured, their is significant demand for the talented who made it thru the PEP gauntlet. I now enjoy going to work without a near guarantee of declining resources, budget/headcount freezes, or back biting colleagues (who would not act in such a manner outside of the pit of PEP). The world outside of PEP is changing rapidly.... hop on board proactively, without regret. I am honestly a different person without the toxic world that Indra and her chosen few have created. Call a recruiter, text and old colleague, start your own company - anything, for goodness sake get out as PEP will NEVER change.

Does anyone know if anyone has started a class action lawsuit resently, the bullying has to stop....

I needed this. I have been offered many jobs outside of Pepsico and always turned them down thinking Pepsi was too good to let go (mainly due to 401k) . I have already been contacted by Toyota in Plano and ready to leave ASAP.

It isn't much "greener" on the outside. I was laid off in 2012 after 10+ years. It took over a year to find a job. I fortunately found a job with comparable pay but it's a smaller company with a bit less talented employees and fewer opportunities to move around and get new experiences. PEP teaches you a lot but it is a bureaucratic beast in a declining industry.

Consider yourself lucky if you were let go...the rest of us continue to do more with far less!

Good luck to you all. I am so sorry for the immediate loss you feel now but I know things will work out for you!

Was a great company and I left with over 15 years of service. Went downhill when Jim Rich left and became a YOY numbers game with leadership back stabbing to protect their career. If you voiced your opinion you got labeled and cut. Now a bunch of yes men and women all looking to get promoted. At some point the YOY numbers can't be hit, stock will fall, and it will be too late.

Totally agree. I left a few years ago when I started to see the writing on the wall and have no regrets. I had over 10 years with the company and felt great pride working with teams who I still believe were the cream of the crop and an R&D leadership team who set the bar high, had integrity and demonstrated value. The environment they created was 'family' and they fought the tough battles for their teams. Once new leadership came in, it was like the business lost its heart and the toxic environment became unbearable. HR was positively the worst I've witnessed and demonstrated over and over again they were not to be trusted. When I walked, I was presently surprised by the reception I received for the rich resume I had developed in my tenure with PepsiCo. There are plenty of great companies and great teams who will welcome you with open arms...PhDs not required! You'll do meaningful work, be appreciated for your contributions and your quality of life will be so much better. Keep the faith.

I concur. I left PepsiCo over 2 years ago and have not regretted it. The toxic environment left me with many sleepless nights, but ever since leaving, I have slept like a baby because I'm finally at peace. I love what I do and the company I work for. There is LIFE after PepsiCo folks. It's waiting for you. Enjoy it because life's too short to be bogged down in the PEP BS

Thank you for this perspective. I feel so guilty for hoping they cut me today, but it's been so long that I've forgotten that there is life outside of Pepsi.
