If they are not bringing o/n to days I don't think the day t/l has anything to worry about. The clerk's responsibilities may change with a new SOP or be p/t. They have to do something with that position, most of the clerks I've talked to don't have enough to do in receiving for their shift and are doing various duties wherever. They have even changed what comes in on ups and such to such a minimal amount that we end up delivering all that stuff to their depts. No one ever comes back for anything. What a shame that this position has become so unimportant or essential to the clubs

I should have got out when I had an offer, with Costco. I saw the horror, working on the market level. We only cared about profits and bonus structure.
I am a clerk.. I do all the normal paperwork, I do the 99 order, I do the fresh supply order, I do the P & L exceptions, I clear the journal, I do the negative on hand report, I deliver the Donations in the system, I file all the paper work, I put in all the tickets in Service Channel, most days I don't get a second break. There is more than enough on my plate.. The fun part is teaching and training Managers that do not want to learn. 25 years and counting!
Completely opposite in our club. Clerk is always busy, TL just sits around and does nothing. Clerk is always offering to help to. TL lazy!

there is not one club that works the same way in receiving and that is a known fact. they all do the counting tagging and what they are suppose to but every club treats their receiving a different way and since last year we have become just people in the back...make sure the doors are locked so the managers don't have to come back and make sure the garbage is cleaned ..have a nice day.
Get ready with audit gone if receiving taking on the job of negative oh they will find any mistakes no one checks paperwork plus in claims only great associate s not one anymore they closed my club good luck to the rest of of you

hahaha...I am sure some clubs run much closer to spec than we do...our clerk may not have 8 hours of work that is specifically receiving but they are busy doing lots of other legit work....our night receiving runs with one person each night and is go go go from the minute they clock in...often there is too much for one person and someone from the floor is needed to help run the trucks..................I have often thought I would like to visit other clubs to see how things are done there because it is obvious that while there is a "company" way to do things that way is not strictly adhered to...........
well maybe your overnight receiving isn't doing what they should. and you do know that not all clubs have beer or wine. Some clubs run a fine tuned area and I guess to good for their own good. There is no way a rec clerk now a days has eight hours of work in receiving.maybe your clerk should be a manager instead
I can not possibly understand how it is that the receiving clerks in so many clubs have nothing to do..ours is busy from the time they get there til the time they leave...both the team lead and the clerk are busy...and this business about not much UPS...on some day maybe not much but on most quite a bit...two fed ex drops , UPS , beer , various other deliveries and paperwork keep them busy ...not to mention all the other things they do that managers and other worker are supposed to do....if our clerk goes away our club will be hurting for sure...................so here is a question ...do all of the other clubs still verify their paper work...ie. make sure all bills and receivers match and highlight them to show they were checked?....
