Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Layoffs to start Tuesday Feb 13th 2018

The way I heard it from a reliable source is that the majority of layoffs will occur on Tuesday Feb 13th, and completing on Thur 15th. On Friday 16th, it will be a half day for all those who have not been let go. Those that have been let go will be given the opportunity to go back in the respective buildings, with an escort, and collect their personal belongings from their desks! Though, I must admit, I have never heard of being laid off and then been allowed back into the building under any circumstances but who knows?

The actual details of the terminations will be based on performance, and the '70' rule i.e.: years with the company plus your age, if it adds up to 70, show's over!

It has been common at Pepsi to allow people to come back when the building is less occupied to collect their personal belongings. It helps to maintaun some dignity. Either way it is still hard especially for managers surviving the cuts

Have to disagree about the BIS pricing model. Many times we come up with a solution but the business doesn't want to pay what it will cost to do it right, so it's pared back to meet a price, and then we are blamed when it doesn't work.

they should rename it Clusterstone

You’re right about Cornerstone. Frankly, all of the recent new IT systems work has been poorly executed. The PQP systems are bad and overpriced. SAP implementation was even worse. The BIS approach is to quote what they know will be approved then come back later for 2x the $ and time after it’s too late to turn back

I hope they catch up with all the clowns in management that were responsible for putting in that useless Cornerstone system in Plano which has basically crippled the operation, what a joke !

And the meetings by the execs where it's all flowers, sunshine, and rainbows is the exact thing wrong with this company. Everything is sugarcoated as a success even when they are REPORTING ZERO GROWTH and we all know it's a LIE.

Listen up hotshots, stop creating useless projects for the sake of doing projects. Get rid of the people who are sitting on FB all day and stop protecting them because you have to justify more headcount.

50% R&D Plano??? That’s crazy high. I can’t see that being remotely possible. That kind of move would have to mean centralization of gfgc in one location, Valhalla?, to clear space for Barrington people to come to Plano. Any other reason means the CSO failed miserably at his job and should be fired on the spot. Fat chance of Indra doing that to her boy

"Vivek and Al are always holding Ra Ra townhalls about how awesome Frito is doing, and how they are #1...why would Frito be hit the hardest?" - - - - because it's a BIG LIE, Frito turned in 4 Quarters of zero growth in 2017, don't trust any of them.

Why will Plano, Tx be most affected? What divisions specifically? Vivek and Al are always holding Ra Ra townhalls about how awesome Frito is doing, and how they are #1...why would Frito be hit the hardest?

I'm in R&D, and was told to be in the office every day next week, can't work remote. I am always in the office and thought it was an odd mandate. Aparantly the request was supposed to be verbally communicated by managers and not to be put in writing.

I am somewhat new at PepsiCo and was happy to see many of my colleagues have been with the company 20, 25, 30, 35 years...it told me they were happy with their job and/or the company valued them....and now PepsiCo is doing this to everyone? Sad!

Guys who are saying you have to be in office next week. What department are you guys from? We in IT did not get any directives like that

Everyone in our group in North America had conference calls on Friday, and in each call we all were told to be in the office next week. If you had work related travel, you were to cancel that trip and reschedule at a later date if you are still around. Everyone in my group work out of Bradenton, Barrington, Plano, New York, and we all have to be in the office. Two VP's in the Chicago office report into New York and will be in New York on Monday because their SVP is there. No one knows who will be affected, and they want everyone to be at their respective location as to not show any bias. Monday the earnings come out as well as organizational changes. Tuesday and Wednesday are the days they will be handing out pink slips.

If they use the "70" rule. Indra and most of her senior staff would be impacted .

not likely

Confirmed. All NA teams asked to be in the office and unable to work from home next week. Conference rooms booked by HR at all the locations. Totally going down folks. Mass layoff coming, now just a question of who.

They get around the warn act by paying you severance for the 60 days.

I've been checking the WARN sites as well and nothing anywhere, not in Texas, not in Illinois, and not in NY. Most likely something happening but it may just not be not as bad as we think.

That may be true. I suppose it also depends on which part of the business you work in. You are right, they had probably already planned on what was going to happen prior to the end of the year. This has more to do with cutting cost and reorganizing than with performance, although they will take the opportunity to remove underperformers too.

A single 2, CI of 5 may not be a death knell, but it gets you on a watch list. A 2/2 and that is a death knell.

But let’s be honest. Most of the layoff selections were made months ago before calibration started. Next week They’ll get rid of people who havent performed In the past or s---ed up enough to the current leadership. As a parting gift, they will get plenty of 2’s whether deserved or not so everyone left can be given better ratings and an actual raise for once

2’s are not a “death knell”. If that were the case, there would be virtually no one left after alll the 2’s are given out. That is a stupid thing to say. It was a bad year for most of the company.

I would also hope that the company would look at a few consecutive years of PDR ratings to get a better picture.

Any 2's on PDR's is a death null.

Your last PDR rating! Also, just an FYI to anyone interested, I checked the availability of ALL conference rooms in PW and none have been block booked (whole day booking) for 13th, 14th or 15th Feb, all have the normal individual bookings that you would see on any day in the week. But, of course, that could change!
