Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sears Makeup Counter?

Does Sears have makeup counters anywhere anymore? The Bon-Ton in our mall is closing and in speaking with them the makeup counter does very good business (one of the few bright spots of the store) There is no makeup counters anywhere else in the mall. (I'm in NH). We certainly have room to put on in with the picture studio and hearing aid areas being empty.

@RBevbWy-1jot It would of been a very hot area to hit, but it doesnt seem Sears actually thinks smart. They keep investing in stupid things, plus I don't think any big names would want to do business at the moment with Sears its kind of scary because Sears stock is in all time low. So what would they bring? Cheap brands which I doubt they would sell.

@1jot There are also Ulta Beauty stores in an increasing amount of malls, to add to the competition.

Would be hard for Sears to compete in cosmetics. JCP has Sephora in many of their stores (store within a store) and online cosmetic sales are gaining ground fast. Malls still have Macy’s and Kohls has cosmetics too. Sears doesn’t have the cache or the money needed to bring in the brands needed to attract customers.

Bringing body painting to a new level

Do any stores have the counter from those test stores in 2011 or did it not work out?

At our Sears store the associates were so randy that we had a number of make-out counters. Makeup counters, we never had any of those.

You apparently don't get out much, if you thought Sears had makeup counters. Go natural, and save your money.

This is from 2011:

Sears might be the place you go to for paint and gardening supplies, but now you can go there for your beauty needs. Starting last month (and rolling out to 100 of its higher-traffic stores over the next few months), the company has been setting up full-on cosmetic departments.

Sears has been in the makeup business in the past, but with the successful launch of 13 full-service beauty departments in 2009, it's giving it another go with makeup brands including CoverGirl, L'Oréal, Revlon, Maybelline, and Physicians Formula. Nail care, fragrance, and skin care (such as Ahava, StriVectin, and Dermalogica) will also be sold.

And if the company's latest venture into cosmetics goes well, expect to see anywhere from 100 to 400 Sears beauty departments going up by the end of next year. Will you be checking it out?

The makeup counters were removed years ago.
