Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

the law suit and the deal deadline

A couple of quotes from different articles..

"The Justice Department's lawsuit to block AT&T's purchase of Time Warner has a trial date: March 19, 2018."

"In a short initial status conference on Thursday in the United States District Court for Washington D.C., Judge Richard Leon said the trial will last around three weeks and that he expects a decision in late April or May.

"AT&T and Time Warner, facing a lawsuit by the Trump administration’s Department of Justice to block the telco’s $85 billion takeover of Time Warner, have extended their merger agreement until April 22, 2018."

This seems odd to me that the TW deal extension is not long enough to let the legal case complete before it expires. I realize it is possible there might be another extension but I wonder if Randy is in trouble on this?

I also wonder if there is a dollar penalty for T if the deal does not complete by a certain date, we know Randy has fallen for that before
