Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Layoffs today?

Were there more layoffs today or were these folks notified a few weeks ago?

Thanks Joe. UOPX is hiding the layoffs and they pretend the company is not in dire straits. Will email you more later.

Email coming tomorrow, thanks Joe. This should be a good story on going from a huge valley employer and leader into supporting local families to venture capitalist take over and staff reductions and a dive in students. All due to lack of innovation and leadership.

If your laid off contact your local news org and put UOPX on blast. UOPX is trying to avoid as much negative press by not making the layoffs public. Investors and students have a right to know. Call Joseph Flaherty at Phoenix New Times. Google your news provider and email them.

Can someone be more specific with specific offices and positions? How many people were laid off in total?

Yes, and there will be more. They do it in chunks to avoid negative media attention. So far it's working.

All the college level deans NEEDED to be cleaned out. In each college you had an executive dean, an academic dean, dean of operations, dean of faculty, program dean(s), and assistant program dean(s). All they did is sit around in meetings together to talk about how important they all are. It is the worker bees that get the work done...this was a long time coming. The lowest income of the deans were the assistant program deans and they cleared 70-80. It is rumored that the executive deans made between 200-300. It is sad for people to lose their jobs...but taking out some of the high level deans allows for more employees who actually do work to stay at their job.

The new owners feel we are not right sized and are comparing us to others to employee to student ratio. This is why they both got us, fix that problem and make a lot of money. We are now an investment and not a College. We will lose Many in the months to come. IT to be hit and advisors.
