Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Leaving VZW - question about benefits

I've been making sh*t money because of the quotas in retail so I have found myself a new job. It does not start until mid January though so I'm sitting on my hands waiting to put in my two weeks.

Does anyone know how long your benefits last after you quit? Does your health insurance end on your last day or do they continue it until the end of the month? My new job has benefits start on day 1, but I'd like a few days off in between jobs to get prepared.

Also inb4 someone posts the Verizon Wireless forum link. I know, but no one will respond there!

Think i just saw yur post on reddit, if you pay in jan, you get it all month. In the store channel, once you put in your weeks usually they let you work a day or so then you're done. Good luck.

I am also leaving in January and start my new job in Mid Jan I will be handing in my notice next week these quotas are getting rediculous. Retail transformation webinar said it all goodbye retail and hello indirect retailers and e commerce.

Just do as VZ would do if they were to RIF you...No notice. Walk in after cleaning out your work space and files you want to save off your computer and hand in your notice. They won't hire you back and will not comment on any job references. Wait til after 1/1/2018 so you get your bonus if you qualify for one. Don't want to throw that money away. Yeah I was thinking of not putting in two weeks but would feel kind of cruel about doing that. It's not like I owe my manager anything.

Does anyone really think their will be retail rifs in January?

In the current VZ environment. do not give 2 weeks notice. First of all, they will have you leave before your two weeks for fear of you being a lame duck for your remaining time. Second, VZ is no longer rehiring employees who leave the company on voluntary separation. 10 years ago, they did but no longer. There is no strategic advantage to giving notice. If you wait until the beginning of January, closer to your new employer start date, the deduction for med insurance will come out of your first check in January. At that point, your benefits are in force through the 31st of January, regardless of the date you choose to separate. For Feb 1st and beyond, you will have the option of COBRA, med benefits at full rate, for 18 months. If there is a RIF in January, with off the books March 31st, you would be buying yourself an opportunity to receive the RIF monies as well as benefits at the reduced rate. Patience, patience, patience. Do not share your game plan with ANYONE VZ.
