Heard from one of those in upper management and several IT workers as well. Hard to work when under constant worry of being riffed.

A. This isnt the verizon wireless site so any march rumors here are only for wireline employees.
B. @2hga they are identical comments, thats because theyre both by the same person, picture an alan from 2 1\2 men type loser...
Don't know about union but seems March is the month for non union folks. Since I never had the choice to join a union can not speak about any layoffs in that area, just hear about the upcoming riff early in the year.
If there is one in March, it would be for wireless not wireline.
2kkx You obviously spend your day on your knees which obviously is your skill set that you brought to Verizon. Keep on swallowing and try not to leave any on your chin . Hope you gargle often .
I think the next RIF should include the stratman-not delivering on commitments. Revenue declining, awful acquisitions that do not move the needle, propping up a losing Enterprise business. Hey find someone else with good ideas, plenty of them in the market and much less expensive.
Do Not Live To Work, Work To Live.
People who are writing: "I gave XX years and worked 80+ hrs a week, at Verizon and this is what they do to me....." .
You were PAID to work, you did not GIVE anything.
@OP and all else: You should work as if you WILL be terminated. Keep you resumes updated, take training classses (even on your own time/weekends - online) . Go on job interviews to see what you are REALLY worth in a non-Telecom job market. Start cleaning out your desk and computer NOW, leave as minmum as possible just to do your daily job. IF or really WHEN the RIF time comes, keep your head up, complete the RIF forms ASAP, Get the severance money, get out of Dodge and dont look back.
Nailed it. I remember working for verizon under seidenberg and our garage was well-staffed and busy. Now we are understaffed and overwhelmed, went from approx. 75 in our garage to less than a dozen now.
When Blowell took over for Ivan was when this company turned to sh!t.
The march date has been floated around since this summer. Most likely due to the fact that the company can offer one every year. Put 2 and 2 together. There can be one every year, the company wants less employees, march ends a fiscal quarter i believe... If not march 2018 it would go against everything the company has been doing to try to reduce headcount since wireless fanboy blowell t. Macdaddy took over for ivan seidenberg years back.
What source did this March 2018 come from? I believe it’s just someone trolling. A lot of people were talking about the last eisp in October being a huge one when the union said it would be a small, targeted eisp....the union was right. The union also says that the next eisp will be right before the contract expires...July 2019. They were right about the last one so I see no reason to doubt them. I do agree that the union does not like the eisp’s simply because it means less union dues for them, even though it is in the best interest of the employee.
The company can offer ONE EISP every year per the contract. Ironically, VZ would probably offer more but the union stops us from leaving, basically screwing us to cover themselves. Less members=less money for union thugs and less people to pull strike duty. If not for the union we would see EISPs all the time...
March 2018 per company is EISP
July 2019 per union chatter is last one for this contract.
@xgc Nothing close to what I gave to the company. I worked harder and smarter than anyone in my group. I kept getting the your at the top of your salary band BS . As people left and were not replaced it was completely out of hand and being the over responsible A type personality, I worked longer and longer hours not being compensated for the hours even though I was an hourly mgmt employee. I would get 4 maybe 6 hours ot for a week I routinely worked 60 hours. Didn't get a raise for 4 of the last 5 years because I was at the top of my salary band. These A Holes couldn't, wouldn't compensate the people who worked their butts off to make ridiculous deadlines with fewer salaries . They didn't deserve my efforts any longer.
Union
Says who??
No eisp in March....next eisp is July 2019.
@1ysw, you maintain, "No eisp in March....people are trolling."
Though it might seem contrarian, one might conceivably argue, No trolling in March....people are EISP-ing.
"I gave forty years to this company..." -- @xgc
Gave seems to infer that you bestowed some sort of altruistic gift unto them, out of the goodness of your heart. Were you not paid?
No eisp in March....people are trolling.
Over 50 RIFs since 1987
Makes sense since march 2018 is rumored to be a big eisp.
Thursday end of the month.
I did it for 15 years of my career. Many years ago I realized I had to better in my job than anyone else. I had purposely taken every job in my group so I could be as valuable to the organization as anyone particular person. I was never approached to be riffed. The only problem, of course, was you had to do others work as people were riffed around you . The work load was so much I spent 60 hours a week in that office. Sleeping suffered . High BP. Had accumulated max vacation because if I took a week I came back to a bigger nightmare.
The last 12 years it was like watching your family die around you . People retired willingly or non willingly in the offices to the point where both offices I worked in went from 20 people to only me in one office and I switched to another office and there was only 3 of us when I retired.
This disaster of a company broke your morale and basically treated you with so much disrespect you eventually get to the point where you run from the place for your sanity. All by design. There are no great leaders in Verizon at any level anymore. I gave forty years to this company and I was proud of everyday I worked. I gave it my all .
