Could be they are doing the layoffs for this quarter after the holidays instead of first day of the quarter. Feb gives the management time to make decisions after the holidays, then do the cuts well away from them. Apparently, lawsuits are more of a problem when people are laid off during the holiday season... so I wouldn't be surprised. Certainly, more cuts are coming, as the budget has been set up for them.
There is a lot of hallway talk about a huge first quarter layoff at the Redwood city offices and elsewhere. Execs are talking a lot more in the hallways because they think no one is around.

it seems this round was not "massive" for sure, but nevertheless a significant reduction in a very specific area.
yes, very different from what happened last sept with more than 1900 people being laidoff just in ES org, but definitely not a fake news. and, would add, very useful in order to understand what will happen in the near future. the writing on the wall is even more evident now.

Live call, maybe ten minutes. Message was basically "if you are on this call you are impacted by this reduction in force".

Yep, layoff via mass concall. (tacky) I was on it, along with (near as I can tell), the whole storage sales team and miscellaneous lucky others.

Everyone from the storage sales team in my former region was laid off today. Have until January 8th to find a new gig internally or it’s adios.
