When these gifs happen, what happens to the employee phone discount? Does the person receive their severance and then the next billing cycle the 50 percent discount is removed? Or does it take a while?

If you leave within 30 days they forgive installments. If you stay and pay full price afterwards you owe installments... The choice is yours. And also when I switched to T-mob, price was lower than with employee discount. Their service is at par, customer service way better
U take your service to T-Mobile and never look back!!!

Voluntary or Involuntary Termination from Verizon, including Reduction In Force (RIF):
Terminated employees are not required to take action on an EPP account. The EPP discount will removed automatically through a process initiated by Human Resources (HR).
EPP discounts are removed within 15 days after the end of the month of the last payroll date.
2 year service contract end dates will be removed.
Qualifying retirees will automatically convert to the eligible retiree discount.
All account transitions from employee to consumer are subject to current retail consumer pricing and Device Payment Plan (DPP) agreements.
If you are retirement eligible, you get to keep your 50% discount if you are retiring from VzW. Wireline gets switched to a 25% discount (which doesn't apply to line charge, so is pretty small. Took about a month to happen.
My discount and contracts were removed on the last day of the month in which I was separated.
