The only people who want the union are those who already paid into the union Ponzi scheme and want someone else to be left holding the bag besides them AND those who are naive and think the union will do anything to save a newbie's job. Of course it won't, but the oldtimers will thank you for being the sacrificial lamb so they can keep their job, and the union leaders will be more than happy to add your hard earned dues to their nest egg.

i've been in the CWA and the IBEW... neither looked out for my interests, at all. Actually, i barely ever heard from the BA, unless i was 2 days behind on my dues. The CWA didn't help save me from a layoff either (from a competitor). It was done by seniority, and I was in the less senior, top performer category. All that BS about "go to the union hall and your brothers will help find you work" is absolutely false! The union (ANY UNION) is a pay-to-play scam. The more you pay into your dues, union support, whatever... then you might get some help. Might. The only ones getting any help are the union bosses and f-ck nuts that are total slackjobs. Keep paying your hard earned dues, sheep... the union loves it.

Union dues are tax deductible IF you itemize and ONLY to the extent that the dues and other qualified misc expenses exceed 2% of your adjusted gross income. And the tax advantage if any is only equal to your marginal tax bracket which in many cases can be as low as 0-10% or as high as 30% or so. So, maybe you get some small amount back if you itemize, but generally speaking no you don't just get it back.

Seriously why would the company continue to spend 90,000 a year for something that some new high school grad could do. I know one who does what they do for a lot less. No way will the company choose you or the low cost person who can do it just as well. So either the company brings in cheaper qualified people or sends a job out of country, they'll do what it takes to compete.
These union lovers are the exact reason why companies move operations offshore.
Verizon Made 7billion in profit last qtr, how much is that? 14,000 dollars per employee. They can afford raises. The stock might take a dive, but f--- them, I want a raise! I want a 10k raise next year, I'm for the f---ing union.

It is dumb to think that you will make less money for joining a union. The whole union thing is much more complicated than that. After this comment you will get a lot of negatives about the union, you got to understand it is like the matrix, if a rep is not part of the supporters they can become an agent. Then you got agents all over the place. And think about this: if Verizon wasn't going to pay you more if you join the union why do they fight it so hard? If unions are dumb to be part of why does the system fight them so hard? The matrix does not want you to know the truth. Follow the rabbit 🐇.
Starting a union at Verizon? Rule #1 don't talk about it with anyone that will tell management. They will bring all kinds of unwanted attention, transfers and corporate types from the east coast. #2 contact CWA asap and ask for help. #3 build a close nit group together in your store and then district to start meeting after/before work. I started but was stomped out by the fear brought by corporate types. The funny thing was, the more attention they gave the more interests my coworkers got in signing up. I'm on the low right now,but I'm going to get back in the game next qtr if they don't lay us off first. Good luck!
