Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Reposting something...thank you , op, for this view of it.

There is no hiring block, in fact the company is incented to retain us. They have a team dedicated to helping those who want to stay to find other positions. This helps associates and also saves them from paying severance. As stated, the decisions are not based upon performance because that would basically reward poor performance. It would be better for companies to fire us than pay us and not offer strong performers similar compensation. The fact that we are struggling to find jobs in the company partially validates the decision. They eliminated positions that were not needed, not the people. Most companies do not offer internal search assistance to impacted employees. This one does. That may not make us feel better, but to say that they do not care is not true. The competition is fierce. As you can tell in the quality of the posts here, there are a lot of great candidates for each position.

I was not laid off but HATED THE position I was in, I applied for dozens of other internal positions that I was better qualified for- no poor reviews, no corrective actions - and I just kept getting denials. Felt like I was being blocked. I resigned eventually. Only a very small number of the people that I know of who were laid off were hired into other positions. Maybe 3 or 4.

Humana offering assistance to those laid off is available so that they have a place to spend money.

Just because they offer you an internal Humana HR person who is supposed to help you retain another role at Humana doesn't mean they really care, if they did a lot more qualified people would have been able to find other jobs. It is mostly a public relations gimmick to make Humana look good.

Original poster, what you say makes a lot of sense and seems to be the best option for everyone, the company, employee, and the state unemployment office and the taxpayers. I have been very vocal about staying in the company, willing to take a pay cut, and willing to move to a different state if needed for a new position. I have applied to 15 or so similar jobs, or jobs I used to do here, so experience and role essentials/desirables are not a question. I have no performance issues, and have an advanced degree. I have a really nice recruiter working with me to move to another role in the company. I recently reached out to HR with RIF questions, no one returned my call. I reached out to my leader, and another person who did my RIF meeting to see if they would answer my questions. I did not hear back from one person; the other person told me to email HR4U and the person heading the RIF, but those are the ones who never responded to me. It seems like Humana says they really want to help us, but I am getting no answers at all. It surely doesn't seem like they want me around. Honestly, if another company will appreciate what I have to offer, I would rather move along. I just wish there was some honesty about my changes of getting another role here

Let’s just say... I always had little faith in mankind, but much faith with the lord. I will seek guidance & justice to the wrongs of man... only wishing upon what is right & just... in this cruel world. May the heavens give me strength & family giveth comfort through these troubling waters.

Hcmss, are you comfortable saying how you were discriminated against? Have you taken legal action?

I agree with last poster that Humana does not help or care about you staying in the company. I was in the first round of impacted - out of all of us that were impacted only a very very number of people got othet positions within Humana. Myself and others were even willing to take pay cuts to move to other positions just to stay in Humana, it seems you get the first interview then you never hear from them again. So it sounds good for Humana to say they're trying to help employees find other positions within but this is not the

reality!!

I am an impacted HCM SS. I know of one of my teammates that had an interview. Not sure if they are given false hope... or they are trying to assist impacted employees. I’ve been assigned to an HR rep that’s been helpful with weekly meetings, follow-up on jobs that I applied to. Unfortunately, I received 3 denials for an interview. Now, could it be my situation is suspect because of other discriminatory actions prior to the layoff... Honestly, with how Humana conducted themselves during this round of layoffs is unacceptable and disappointing. I am also disgusted about the lack of proper response from my Manager.... and zero response for any follow ups after my complaint and continued discriminatory concerns. They have caused me lots of emotional distressed. I look forward to an early release...and knows that G-d has a plan. My apologies to all impacted. Go forth with promises of future rewards... and away from the darken hell.

Absolutely NOT TRUE! They are not hiring internal RIFd employees, that is why very few continue with Humana after being impacted. Most jobs are currently being filled externally. I was impacted in the 2nd round and received little to no assistance in finding an internal position. I and 2 teammates applied to an open position in another department. I was fully qualified and had all requirements. I really wanted that department because I had a friend there who said great things. I never got an interview. They hired externally. They hired a recent college grad with no real experience over me with at least 10 years related experience. I have heard similar stories from others in the group laid off with me. Not one of my teammates got a single internal interview. It has nothing to do with competition, everything to do with them not helping place us.
