Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Additional Oracle Layoffs are coming December 1st

Taking a look at the macro trends and the amount budgeted for employee severance packages we can clearly see that Oracle is about half way to their "Restructuring goal" put in place by executives last year. The Only way to achieve that goal effectively is to make massive layoffs Dec 1st and March 1st at the end of those fiscal quarters.

Restructuring expenses during the first quarter of fiscal 2018 and 2017 primarily related to employee severance in connection with our Fiscal 2017 Oracle Restructuring Plan (2017 Restructuring Plan).

The total estimated restructuring costs associated with the 2017 Restructuring Plan are up to $1.1 billion and will be recorded to the restructuring expense line item ..

The total estimated remaining restructuring costs associated with the 2017 Restructuring Plan were approximately $475 million as of August 31, 2017 and the majority of the remaining costs are expected to be incurred through the end of fiscal 2018

@QaESXVJ Posted November 9th Estimates an average of 30k package per employee

Taking into account this calclatons means that $475 million has been spent. Which means $475M/.03M = 15,833. Approximately 16,000 employees are slated for severance. $1100M - $475M = $625M was used for more employee severance packages. This number indicates that $625M/.03M approximately 20,000 employess have received packages. This will be a grand total reduction of 36,666 employees globally.

As a M5, I can verify this to be true. Restructuring activities are underway across multiple organizations and products.

The number 26,000 was effectively predicted two years ago:

It's almost impossible to layoff people in France or Italy in an easy way, if you are an individual contributor.

It's a very long and complex process, and since noone in France and Italy know about these layoffs, can't be so close. There will be for sure a cut, rumours are -30% of sales and presales, but not next week.

@1tqy nah, he’s flying over to SC from UK, probably discussing who from his team is history. He said it’s an off-site meeting but yeah, pull the other one.

I said it before and I’ll say it again. There is a reason we all had to update our talent profile before 31st October. They are trying to get rid of the deadwood, so yeah more layoffs coming. Also, my manager has just been told he has to be in SC first week in December. Hmmmm wonder why????

10,000 Jobs will be gone before FY18 is over. All hands on deck looking and interviewing for jobs outside of oracle, good luck

why not helpful? this is a layoff discussion board, are you aware?

the "evidence" is directly from Oracle, and it is very "evident". we can argue about the effective number of people, but not the fact that during FY18 (i.e. until may 2018) there will be another massive wave of layoffs since it has been officially written by Oracle.

I don't agree on the number of people though. in EMEA severance packets are much higher (in the range 150k-300k for many countries) and so it will not be 16k people. but it will be as massive as what happened sept 1st (remember? that other fake news....)

"We have a legal report of money budgeted for the layoff and managers reporting they are busy selecting who gets the package."

From what I heard about the Sept 1 layoffs, managers and even directors had little to no say in who was chosen to be riffed.

This data comes from the Oracle 10Q filed with the US security exchange commission. The severance packages have been planned for over a year. The fact that we have 475 million to be paid out before June 2018 means more layoffs are coming for certain.

We have a self reported M5 saying they have been planning restructuring activities as of November 9th 2017.

It does not take a genius to realize that the majority of past layoffs have occured at the start of the new fiscal quarter.

December 1st is the new fiscal quarter. We have a legal report of money budgeted for the layoff and managers reporting they are busy selecting who gets the package.

Its pretty evident what is going to happen December 1st.

Hey Fake News poster...it's right there in Oracle's own document filed with the Feds.

I wish my family member had gotten out before they got the axe on 9/1. OTOH, they were a longtime Sun/Oracle employee so they did get the severance payout. But the stress of looking for a new gig really made the last few months difficult to bear.

Good luck to all.
