Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Orangeburg Mainframe (VZ to IBM Mainframe Group)

I think Verizon Orangeburg Mainframe Group was bought out by IBM.

I think they were given a 12 month work contract and no Verizon severance.

This was abut six months ago.

Is there anyone on this site who may be able to confirm or deny this - and, if this info is correct, would someone be able to provide more details about what's going on and what the Plan is

That did happen. The Mainframe operators now work for IBM.

The pipe was manufactured largely by the Fiber Conduit Company... At some point they changed name to Orangeburg Manufacturing Company

This reminded me of Orangeburg pipe and what it was used for back in the 70s. Had one replaced once.
