As AT&T hails tax cut with bonuses for some workers, it hands pink slips to others
AT&T hailed the passage of the tax cut bill in Congress on Wednesday by announcing $1,000 bonuses to about 200,000 workers.
The telecommunications giant is also quietly laying off hundreds of others.

I actually switched to Verizon when I left. At&t VOLTE sounds like trying to talk under water. Sounds are crystal clear on Verizon. This is important as I talk more driving now due to safety and phone laws.
They give a bonus this year in order to increase the salary for 2017. They will give raises next year. You think everything is a conspiracy, since you don't know how business works. The economy is growing, so there will be more demand for labor, so salaries will rise. Regardless of hiring, AT&T wants to retain it's workforce. When the economy grows, other companies will want to hire employees away from AT&T. AT&T is just raising salaries to retain their employees they need in a growing economy. You will see all companies increasing wages. It's not a conspiracy, or a plot, or a trick. It's just how business works, and AT&T is smart to get ahead of the curve and not wait until their workforce is being picked off by competitors. Companies will lay off people they don't need. The salary and bonuses of people they retain has nothing to do with people that are being laid off. Trying to connect bonuses with layoff is nonsense. You're trying to use some government mentality and apply it to business.
Just trying to kiss a$$ to lock in TW. Though I am proud to say I switched to T-Mobile. Bill is less than when I had a 50% discount as an employee. Also booted DTV after I left. My home is completely T free minus some stupid tee shirts and old uniforms. Thinking of giving my uniforms to some homeless.
This 1k bonus is so pointless. They will continue to lay off and not hire. The only reason it was done was to give good pr to Randall that he can trick Trump with to get the TW deal. He knows he’s a s---er for good press.
