Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

New office dress policy

New policy going out first week of January and effective February 1.

DFW will have a formal dress code for all contractors and employees. Men is stricter version of business casual. Biggest change is that women will be asked to start wearing skirts in the office, at least finger tip length but preferably covering knees, no pants, and no exposed elbows or collarbones. With all the meetings we bring customers to in DFW, many have different customs and are uncomfortable sometimes with seeing so many women dressing what is by their standards very revealing. The reason this is not being restricted to only certain times is that they know people will forget and they want this to be taken seriously on all days. Also after the incident at the holiday party they want to be sure to send a strong message about what is appropriate at work (weak attempt at avoiding a lawsuit maybe).

I heard a question asked about how Sabre could legally fire someone for wearing pants to work...response: immodesty is not a protected class. So apparently wearing pants is immodest now. But only for women.

Welp. I find it offensive to witness TD Ameritrade slapping its theoretical junk in the face of our campus on the daily. When someone builds a call center for temp employees that puts our HQ to shame, maybe the dress code is for our funeral.

Please - Put some bourbon, a roaming gnome statue, a lock of Peluso's hair, the missing locks on the health room doors from '08 and a pic of Sammy G. I can bearhug in my casket forevs & I'm allll good.

Well this is BS, because Sabre doesn't have any holiday parties. Can't offend the people who don't celebrate Christmas, you know.... Instead they have the "Kickoff" shindig in Jan. Nice try, bro.

Someone is having a laugh! Nothing to worry about in this respect.

We have not had any customer complaints about the dress of our employees in the office. First, the employees who are seeing customers in person generally do tend to dress up for the occasion. Second, customers understand that when visiting the USA, they will see people dressed in clothing that is considered appropriate by our standards. Anyone who is not comfortable with this fact will not be sent on vendor visits to Sabre.

Finally, just because it was mentioned, there were no negative incidents at any Sabre holiday events. Nice try, though!

Merry Christmas to all.

I was hired in 1998 and we had to wear slacks and dress shirts and tie except on casual Fridays. The only guys that dress up now are one one's just out of college wanting to feel like a professional. Most of the guys at my level and tenure gladly wear jeans and tennis shoes every day. If you're standing next to an older guy in jeans, untucked shirt, and tennis shoes, he probably makes 3x your salary.

Maybe all the men could dress in tuxedos and the women dress in Victorian evening gowns with those 3 meter diameter skirts?

What about having everyone wear deep sea diver outfits complete with goggles, oxygen tanks and flippers?

Or everyone could dress up in those 2 person horse costumes.

Or those inflatable sumo wrestler suits.

Or the Katy Perry dancing shark costume FTW.

I cannot believe people are taking this seriously.

I actually think this is a good thing. I left Sabre years ago, but have been back recently visiting a friend. I'm surprised at how casual it has become. While I do not think that you need a jacket and slacks every day, I think people could do a little better than old jeans, sneakers and a superhero t-shirt.

So the new dress code for everyone should be raggedy clothes that look like we are all impoverished beggars and ban anyone from parking any vehicle in the parking lot worth more than $5k.

If true, completely stupid... Customers brought to HQ do not care about how peoples are dressed, it is actually part of the culture, and some other IT cies are even more relaxed. They are more concern about pending issues, bug fixes, implementation delays, or loose products plan...

I have been dealing with customers for several years now. I have not witnessed a single case customer being upset because a lady colleague was wearing pants, jeans, shorts, or skirt. However, I witnessed customer being upset and mumbling "we pay you too much!" numerous times when we parked next to a Porsche, Corvette, convertible or Mercedes, BMW, muscle cars, etc. not only in Southlake, TX but also in other places such as Rome Italy. I tried to spot most beaten up car in the garage, just to park next to it :)

Sabre is a big joke... Revealing women, really? You mean mini skirts and deep cleavage... Has anyone seen a revealing type in 5 years? I sure have not.

Will women be required to wear a burka to cover the face to not offend Muslims?

I hope this is a JOKE.

Clean Code in a clean T-shirt and jeans is as good as Clean Code in formals and little less time consuming.
