Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Best Christmas in years

Sales and foot traffic at my Kmart are up this year. Busiest holiday season it's been in years. Talked to a friend who works at another nearby Kmart who said the same thing.

It's technically possible. Are we sure those two stores aren't just both currently in liquidation? That always brings in the fools who will buy anything as long as there's a huge sign saying X% off even when it would have been cheaper at a non-liquidating store.

One store out of four or five hundred that has an uptick in sales volume isn't going to save any of the rumored 140 that are supposedly going to be part of a mass closing announcement after the holidays.

I'm a cashier at a Kmart that is usually dead in New Jersey. Our store is getting a lot more foot traffic. People are bringing in mailer cards from Shop Your Way with one-time only offers of $ off, like Kohls sends out... and a lot of points offers for regular customers are bringing them back the next day. If they don't spend their money with us, they will spend it somewheres else.

Do we have staffing to handle the crazy amount of customers who are coming in? No!!! And that includes all the hiring they did of seasonal workers.

What I am seeing are a lot of people buying the bogo stuff, a lot using surprise points (most are $5 off or $10 off and they are spending $40 or more), and the people with the $ off coupons. The bogo sales are actually good deals. We have a store called Boscovs nearby who are pretty good at sale prices. I'm hearing a lot of customers say they got better deals at Kmart with their coupons and points than they could have got at Boscovs. That is a positive thing, for our store, at least.

We on the floor aren't allowed to see gross margin numbers. But I know we have turned over more transactions in December than last year.

My local Kmart was very busy last week when I went in the only had for cashiers the line was about an hour long. I put a few things in my cart and then I check to see if they were actually a better price than Walmart and they were not so I put them back and we left. Is a great marketing ploy with the 10 to 50% off people were flocking to the stores but they didn't have the help to handle it

If business is so great cite your store! I'm sure Eddie wouldn't mind one bit; in fact he would be as pleased as Punch to have such a gem of a store noted.

If business is so great cite your sales. What are the comps to LY? What is the gross margin rate? DO tell!

Could be true and I hope it is. It's not going to save the company but it is still nice to hear.

Talk to your store manager and ask him how sales are doing month to date in your store....It may seem busy but the numbers will confirm one way or the other.

It's ironic you're calling someone else a troll. You probably have no idea what the word actually means.

Now wait, this is possible. Our sears store is extremely busy. BUT our sales are still down 45% to last year. With all the other stores closing the remaining stores will pickup foot traffic, and still nothing in stock for them to buy. Equals people in stores with nothing to buy... bottom line is good by sears and kmart

HAHAHAHAHA!! This site is so full of trolls.

If you even work at Kmart, which I doubt, we'll see you in the unemployment line early 2018.
