Comcast too

Never ceases to amaze me how many trolls patrol this site, desperately trying to prop up the "Everything is AWESOME!" narrative. The latest are people saying how great life is at Comcast, tons of hiring, etc, etc.

A quick google search and reading this site's Comcast board is all that's needed to dispel these lies.

Bottom line. Some telcos are doing better than others, but the industry as a whole is not moving in the right direction. Understand this and the fog clears.

Since this is the AT&T board, I'll respond in that perspective.

In the end, TV, Internet and cell phone are not growth industries any more. Gains to one provider are offset by losses to another provider.

The internet of things, like power meters and connected vehicles are a growth area, but I don't see the price points supporting employment.

If in telecom, I see 5G and the accompanying technician jobs as a future in the immediate term. Cell is continuing to evolve. And low power 5G is an alternative to Uverse and allows for a nationwide internet offering.

Employment will decline in mature areas. In the case of AT&T however, there will be a considerable amount of people eligible for retirement willing to accept a package that will take the pressure off of younger people.

Technology is moving towards customer demand of OTT apps, in result less man power.
