Our numbers keep going down, no matter what the nationwide trend is. I wonder if it could have anything to do with the fact that with so few people and hours, we don't have anybody to help customers when they need it or we don't have people to put the product on the shelves?

Hubbies keep loading up on appliances for the Mrs. hopefully it will end soon so I can quit wearing these heels and go back to flats, but the boys like what they like and when they’re happy the spend more!
1kq, "the government" is not some vast conspiracy. You know people, I assume. Do you think that any 10 people you know are capable of mounting some big secret plan successfully, much less the thousands required for the big bad government conspiracy? I guess Macy's ran out of tinfoil.
If you look at the cited article, "nonstore retailers", aka online, did very well. B&M didn't really, and in any case Sears and Macy's are the poster children for bad retail. I wouldn't be drawing any conclusions based on just Sears and Macy's sales.
Retail sales aren't surging, that's fake news. I work at a prominent Macy's and our sales are cratering too, as are all Macy's I know of and have friends who work at.
Yes, the govt puts out fake stats and the media reports them. Welcome to the era of BS and more BS, especially when it comes to the economy and government reporting. We are in a recession that's getting worse by the day, which is why all these retailers are going under, healthcare is collapsing, Tech layoffs, and on and on it goes.
The government desperately wants to cover it up and will do anything, and I mean ANYTHING to hide it, including and especially putting out fake news.
